Dear Parkin:

Thank you for your email -- it sounds like you are doing some interesting work.

PhD applications are screened through a school-level committee and a department-level committee. Individual faculty do not generally even see the application files until the pool has been reduced to 6 or so files. Students admitted will be expected to work with several faculty during their time here. Thus you do not need an individual like myself to select you; you need to be selected by the program committees.
