INSEAD vs YALE... 怎么选？

why? 我觉得好难抉择阿，但要是我我会选择INSEAD。节省1年的时间和费用，多挣1年的工资。枫丹白露。小众文青的圣地。选修Wharton的课程。全世界到处转悠。巴黎，a floating feast.

我记得学校在今年经济形势下不推荐去Wharton交换来着，因为在找工作时期去美国错过了很多机会。如果想去巴黎可以去旅游，用不着过去读书。而且如果在欧洲大陆找工作需要会当地语言，比如咨询行业普遍不考虑不会当地语言的人。我记得Insead毕业的中国学生少有留在欧洲大陆的，不少去了英国

如果楼主的目标是做咨询，并且不打算去美国工作，Insead还是不错的。但如果想去美国还是选Yale吧

the data above would be more convincing if it also showed us how many students in INSEAD had previously worked in mckinsey, bcg, bain, etc. BEFORE they went to b-school.

Going back to the consulting industry and breaking in to it are two very different games.

还有就是Yale的人和INSEAD的人追求的东西是不一样的。人家很多人更喜欢去哪个小岛国上为气候变化调控提升的合作效率，而不是去美林或BCG

Also, other factors to consider when interpreting the data would be:

1. class size. Yale has less than 300 while insead cohort is abt 900

2. I heard many consultants in europe go to INSEAD sponsored by their company and return to work for the same company upon graduation. If this is true it will definitely skew the data.

3. how many of those top consulting jobs are also accessible for a chinese? I mean they won't hire a chinese who couldn't speak German to work in Germany nor would they hire a chinese for a france-based project. With no language and cultural advantage, how much of INSEAD's consulting strength can you really enjoy?

I know even with these all considered, INSEAD is still probably better than YALE for consulting. But I just wanna point out that data can be very misleading at times. Please always take it with a pinch of salt.

Also, insead's 1 year program makes it a favorite among top consultants. They already have the industry connection(more or less), working exp and the necessary skill sets. What they want from an MBA is mostly the credentials. So if you are already in the consulting industry, you shold pick INSEAD over yale at any time of the day.
But if you are a career switcher with no working experience in consulting. In my opinion, one year is not enough for you to acquire the skill sets, develop the contacts and obtain some exp by doing an internship. That's when you should really weigh your options between the two schools.
But on the flip side, maybe with Insead's strength in consulting, what you gain there in one year (connections, recruitment opportunities) can be more than what you can gain in Yale in 2 years. Not really into consulting so not too sure. Just trying to point out some factors that LZ might wanna consider.

Insead 08年108人去麦肯锡，其中36人原来是麦肯锡的。在欧洲大陆进麦肯锡这类的top咨询公司，一定要求精通当地语言。所以本地欧洲学生有很大优势

我说一句实在话。过来人听到的，看到的。

找工作面试的时候，如果是Insead的，你可以说自己是欧洲最好的MBA出来的（不一定属实，但这样说也不算吹牛）。然后再说一句“其实美国的哈佛、沃顿要去我也能去，不过主要看中Insead一年、欧洲文化云云”。

但如果你在Yale，你就很难拔高自己，说自己是美国最好的20所MBA出来的？这样好象不够有力度。此外，人家很容易把你和哈佛、沃顿出来的比较，并且问你为啥没去。说着说着，自己也没了底气。

这个数据本身并不说明什么。
Yale SOM一届只有200人，而对咨询和投行感兴趣的，各不到30人。你拿这个就业数据去跟一半人都想做咨询的一届有近千人的INSEAD比，本身就不公平。
个人观点：Yale的咨询的确不是很强，不是很多人进入这个行业，更多人是做finance-related的function。但是，其实post-MBA的工作跟个人的profile有很大关系，如果以你的profile在Yale拿不到McK的interview，你就是去Insead，也很可能拿不到。
另外，如果你以后是想回国工作的话，应该比较一下两个学校在国内的placement，而不是去看整个学校的statistics。
