I am intereted in applying for the Strategy program in Purdue. Specificially, with focus on the innovation strategy. Are there any profs in Purdue that you can recommend? or do you know whether they are admitting students on this area this time?

At least all current students in strategy at Purdue have some work experiences. But it was a different story for the professors when they were applying for PhD programs more than 10 years ago.

If you take a closer look, you should find a young professor who shows some interests in innovation.

I would recommend that you try hard to identify at least one of the tenured professors who has similar research interests as yours.

Profs know you most probably will change your ideas after you are in the program. But, in evaluating your application, it is very important for them to know that you have at least related research interests otherwise they wouldn't be able to help you.

I am not the best person to answer this question. But I can tell you that they admitted two students this year and one of them is a U.S. guy who is not that great at math in my opinion. The other guy deferred enrollment for a year because of family reasons. I am not sure if this will reduce the quota of 2010 because they will have a student coming for sure. I guess you should have strong math background and have some idea about what are the reseach topics.

If I were you, I would contact those Chinese profs to ask them if they can refer you to some current students for questions.

From student profiles, I didn't see any Chinese student. Is that true? Do you know how this program select people? What are their preferences?

They require that the SOP should be approximately 350 words. I think It's really hard to distinguish oneself in these limited words. Does that indicate SOP is not as important as other criteria?
