Other crops可以理解为包括了MODIFIED的这种种子在内的 crops，文中只提了，mount下降了一点点，但是如果单价便宜了很多，那么在economic 上还是有Benefit可言的，不知道对不对

i would say D

you can eliminate all the other choices
they aren't helpful
but D is helpful because of statistical significance
"the amount of insecticide needed per acre to control insect pests was only slightly lower for those who tried the modified seed than for those who did not."
but if you use 1% less insecticide per acre and you only have 100 acres, it's not a big savings
if you use 1% less on 10,000 acres, you save a lot more

E is related but doesn't help you to decide
but that has no relevance to the comparison
"the amount of insecticide needed per acre to control insect pests was only slightly lower for those who tried the modified seed than for those who did not"
it doesn't matter what quantity was used before
because you already know that the amount now is only "slightly lower"

这讨论都快持续两年啦！

我一开始觉得D好，因为它照应了数理逻辑元素“  per acre”那么用乘法的思想，就可以得到总的“节省农药的量”

BUT, 当我仔细再读几遍D选项后，发现不对。

D说：Whether the farmers who have tried the modified seed planted as many acres of cotton, on average, as farmers using the ordinary seed did.   注意这里只说“farmer who have tried the MS”  并没说这些farmer全部种的是MS或则大比例种了MS，所以，不能判断省农药的情况，也即不能判定省钱的多？少？

后来者请继续思考。。。。。。
