Therefore, since the modified seed costs more than ordinary seed without producing yields of higher market value, switching to the modified seed would be unlikely to benefit most cotton farmers economically.

A.    Whether farmers who tried the modified cotton seed had ever tried growing other crops from genetically modified seed.

B.    Whether the insecticides typically used on ordinary cotton tend to be more expensive than insecticides typically used on other crops.(无关???)

答案:B

但感觉B属于无关比较;

个人更倾向选D,原文说 the amount of insecticide needed per acre to control insect pests was only slightly lower for those who tried the modified seed than for those who did not.如果对D做否定回答,即种植基因改造的seeds的数量比ordinary少,打个比方,之前,ordinary seeds种植100;之后,genetically modified seeds种植5ordinary seeds种植95,总量不变,但genetically modified seeds只占很好一部分,所以前后使用的insecticides只有微量的减少(slightly lower),因此不能说明使用genetically modified seeds不能带来经济效益,对原文结论weaken

个人浅见,请各路大侠指教!!!

gwd-tn-24的答案是B 

我个人觉得B不对  因为这个答案要对, 必须加入一个假设就是:other crops 包括了genetic modified cotton   并且如果modified cotton 种的很少,便宜一点点也省不了几个钱     经济上没优势

对答案D:   选项意思是:有些农民种改良棉花种的和有些农民种普通的一样多    如果这两类农民种的cotton acre 非常少  modified cotton还是不能体现经济优势 

觉得E更好:和most cotton farmers 对应    most cotton farmers had to use exceptionally large quantities of insecticide.   所以即使per acre少了一点点  最后就可以省很多  所以most cotton farmers省了钱

答案为b,首先新棉用杀虫剂比普通棉的量略小,隐含的意思是使用相同的杀虫剂,才可以得出这样的比较;使用新棉面临的情况:1)种子成本略高,2)产量并不会更大;棉农使用新棉的利润变化=收益的变化(不变,为0)-种子成本(正,略增)+节省的农药成本(正,等于节省量*价格)

从上面的公式可看出,如果节省农药的价格非常昂贵即使节省的量少,棉农使用新棉的利润也会大增。因此b选项是对的,就是要看农药的价格贵不贵,但是GMAC非常的狡猾,在b项中引入了其他农作物杀虫剂的比较,迷惑大家让大家觉得无关,其实b项的重点在与杀虫剂是否贵,而不是在跟谁比,如果B项这样出“普通棉杀虫剂是否异常昂贵”,我想大家的疑惑就减少了很多。。。

OG12里有这道题,题目表述有一点不同,但意思完全一样。官方答案是楼主列出的选项里的E。至于B,OG12说它是无关选项。
