以下是引用luoyx在2004-2-27 9:18:00的发言: Fjapl, it seems that you have lived in US for a long time and have a solid background. You might have been used to the life, culture, and language there. And what's more important, you don't have the Green Card issue. If you don't mind, could you tell us what make you decide to get back to China? or share with us something about Chinese MBA's career in US from your point of view? Thanks in advance. thanks for your reply. yes, as you said, i have been living here for a long time and fairly adopted to the language and culture. but, the key is to what degree. speaking the language fluently does not mean i sound native, knowing the culture does not mean it is my culture (although i am fairly used to it and comfortable with it). bottom line, living in a country for a long time does not make you a native of the country. so you will always have your limitations, compare to the natives. these limitations will limit your career progression, at least for the majority of the people under this scenario. i have worked in this big4 for four years now and met many executives (partners). so far, i have yet met any Chinese born executive (the only Chinese partner i have met is an ABC). ffice ffice" />
why do I want to go back to china? because i miss it, and also i want to try my career out there, at least for a period of time. my career path here in the US is pretty much a set path, there is not much room for me to try different things here. on the other hand, my career in china would be an unknow for me, sort of like gambling. but unless i try it, i will never know what the result would be. that’s why i want to give it a try, and even if the experience failed, at least I tried so I won’t regret later. does it make sense?
about Chinese MBA life in the ffice:smarttags" />US? i don’t have a say really, since 1) i don't start until this fall so i don't know how it would be yet 2) even if i did, i am afraid my experience won’t be very representative since my situation is some what different compare to the Chinese students directly from china. however if you guys are interested in my school experiences, i will certainly update you in august
