Days ago, bumped into Jim Holmen in the hallway. He said this year the application is very competitive. Domestic applicants has raised by 81%, but he didn't see any significantly change for international  applicants. FYI

我个人还没听说过

听说过的一些都是Jim Holmen或者几个Associate Admission Director做的

正在填写在线申请资料， 发现学校要求提供Financial Support方面的信息， 想知道是一定要在申请时就提供呐， 还是拿offer的时候呐？

我看其他学校都没有要求这个。

financial support evidence -- 去年是拿到admission offer 之后才需要提供的，不知道今年政策是否有所改變，可以發信給 Jim Holmen 或者 admission office 問一下

beer game 是 MBA Core 中 Operations 授课的一节内容，教授是 Kyle Cattani，他是斯坦福的博士，曾在 HP 工作并在 UNC 担任过教授，在 Operations 领域还是很有名的

课程方面，不同的同学是萝卜青菜，各有所爱。Kelley 每年都有进入 Consulting 公司的毕业生，但是总体来说这方面不是很强，国际学生面临的挑战也很巨大。Entrepreneur 口碑不错，今年春天还正在计划访问加州了解创业和风投机会等。

i got the email and would like to paste my answer in the forum for sharing.

The bear game is offered by operation course in our core. Professor Cattani is very nice and interesting professor. He got Stanford PhD. and used to teach in UNC. Although most of people don’t like operation class, I like it. The teaching method is very impressive and creative. Like bear game you mentioned, students are divided into different groups and each one taking one role like consumer, distributor, factory etc. The bear game simply illustrates the bullwhip effect in supply chain. Also, in the middle of our core we have case competition. It allows you to integrate your learning quickly and comprehensively into real world business. Also, I would like to say that Kelley used case teaching approach a lot (nearly 70%) in operation, economics, marketing, management; only accounting, finance and data analysis barely use cases. The case study is cool that you can find great linkage between theory and reality. I guess that is why Kelley has the best classroom experience around the world.

Consulting is not so strong at Kelley. I am also interested in consulting career. The major employer are Deloitte and other big 4 consulting firms, instead of Mckinsey, Bain or BCG. The challenge for consultant career is also tremendous for us Chinese students, in terms of language, networking skills and thinking habits. But opportunities are still there. Every year we have one Chinese students go to good consulting firm. I am not so much familiar with Entrepreneurship. We have entre. academy. I would like to refer you to Stanley, from Taiwan, who are in entrepreneurship academy.

In terms of professor, we only finished a core semester and will start the spring semester next week. Starting in spring semester, we are allowed to choose selective course. So I don’t have much sense on professors or selective courses. Frankly speaking, management courses in Kelley is good, but not great. But our marketing, finance and operation offers a lot great classes taught by great professors.

I am in consulting academy. Choosing academy is based on your application and is selected by academy director considering your background and interest. But you can really drive your direction if you are passionate. For example, I was selected in finance academy at the very beginning. But I talked to consulting academy director again and finally convinced him to put me in his boat. All the faculty at Kelley are so approachable and are very serious about our students. I think this is what every applicants should mention in your Kelley application.

The first week of our consulting academy is wonderful. We had some guest speakers in consulting industry. Then we did a case competition, presenting a consulting firm to Kelley students. This helps us do some firm research and the wining teams have the opportunity to present before the firm partner and Kelley alumni. The firms includes mercer, Deloitte, KPMG and one boutique firm called archstone. In the last few days, we travelled to Chicago to visit Deloitte and KPMG, have lunch and party with our alumni. Very nice experience. Our next week 2 academy will also have a remote consulting project. The project should be a real business project from consulting firms and some companies that recruit internal consultant. The week 3, in fall 2009, will be an on-site consulting project at firm’s office to spend the entire week on some assigned projects.

I know other academy also have some great events, some will visit companies in California, some will do case competition. Tell me what academy you are interested in and I would try to find someone to answer your questions.
