Next Wednesday, Supply Chain & Operation Management Club will organize a trip to Yangshan Deep Water Port(洋山深水港), the largest inter-modal port in the world. Some photos and facts for the port are attached.

For those 07/exchange students, who have registered another trip in December with Prof Norma. That plan is still in place. Please inform Paolo first if you want to join this club trip instead. 
For those of you unfamiliar with the port, here are some quick facts: - It is the largest inter-modal port in the world, moving over 550 million tons of cargo - The port is constructed 27 km from the coast line on a group of islands (this prevents silting) - The average depth is 15m deep allowing ships moving 18,000 containers access to this port (the average port serves ships with 5000-6000 containers) - In order to get to the port, the longest bridge in the world (at the time) was built in under 3 years at 30 km long - The now longest bridge in the world (32 km long) was constructed to facilitate truck transport to/from the logistics park closest to the port and Shanghai
