[求助]现在开始准备申请学校,刚收到G成绩,AWA只有4分,怎么办?

[求助]现在开始准备申请学校,刚收到G成绩,AWA只有4分,怎么办?

本人现在开始准备申请学校,但不知道如何开始,在此请教各位牛牛,给些指引,不胜感激。

先介绍一下本人情况:
1999年毕业于广州的某高校,学的是计算机方面的专业。毕业后进入一家大型国企工作,一干就是9年了。其中换过不少岗位,开始是做内部的业务支撑系统,然后转到面向社会的软件开发,接着转入大客户部做区域客户经理,然后通过内部竞聘换到一个部门做电信增值业务,最后到了公司的市场部,负责产品的内部流程,包括产品测试、支撑系统规划测试、服务流程设计、售后跟踪等方面的工作。一直干到现在。
04年的时候正值事业低潮期,非常惨淡,于是萌生了出国念书的想法,开始申请加拿大的技术移民,后来因为工作岗位的调动,新岗位的老板十个颇为变态的家伙,工作要求高,被他牵着干了一年多,虽然辛苦,但有了些盼头。但也造成了Ielts的滞后。直到06年,这个岗位所在部门被解散,才重拾英语,考了Ielts,准备体检的时候遇上老婆怀孕,不能照X光,中介公司说等小孩出生后一起办更好。于是待到07年年末才完成移民的资料,今年四月收到移民纸,国庆到加拿大短登了几天。
刚考完Gmat,写作成绩还不知道,Maths和Verbal合共只有730,可是awa只有4分。Toefl还没有考,正在考虑是考Ielts的A类还是Toefl,觉得Ielts的A比较好考,呵呵,不过成绩并不是所有的商学院都接受。
由于已经算是移民了加拿大,因此计划在加拿大读MBA,经朋友介绍,申请范围确定为多大,York,Ivey,UBC以及McGill。最好能申请到多大或者York,Ivey学费贵,而且时间段、教学以案例为主,对于我来说比较不利(没办法,英语水平还不行,如果老是参加讨论,死的难看的几率非常大)。

在这里想请教一下各位牛牛,特别是在上述学校的同学或者校友,或者正在申请的筒子,给些指引,如何开始?已经到多大、ivey,york做了online apply,看到里面essay部分,题目好抽象,巨晕。

同样关注中,情况类似(除了移民那段),也有点无所适从

谢谢楼上的意见,不过本人已经申请了技术移民,按照移民的规定,在短登后的5年内,最起码的要求是住满730天。因此想在加拿大读MBA,两年完成学业,然后工作一年,争取拿到citizen ship。时间上来说,如果能够达到这种程度,已经非常高兴了。

另一方面,个人将来的计划,因为涉及到家人,包括太太、小孩、老人等,很有可能按照如下的轨迹来走:加拿大念完MBA,在加拿大找个大的公司工作,大概工作3-4年,回香港或者上海工作,这样既可以照顾家里人,也能迈向自己的职业目标。我在加拿大看到一些移民的老人家,因为文化、语言等障碍,很不适应那边的生活,白天儿子都去上班、孙子去幼儿园,而且孙子也不是很愿意和老人家在一起玩(也许是文化和语言差异吧),老人家挺孤独的。如果将老人家独自留在国内,有什么问题也照顾不上,毕竟起码都要15个小时的飞机,一天的路程,如果有什么闪失,可能会后悔终生的。因此有了上述的想法,去香港是个很不错的想法,个人认为。

无论如何,我认为幸福是一种平衡的状态,也许从职业或者发展的角度来说,也许(Gmat教会了我,虽然低概率,也不能抹杀可能性)我也有可能进入US的top mba。不过取舍后,认为能够达到自己的目标就很不错了。

附上找到的加拿大的几所商学院的essay题目,贴上来,希望能给走在同道上的筒子们提供些帮助。

IVEY

Required Essay Question (1 of 3)
What are your professional goals and how will an Ivey MBA help you achieve these goals? (250 words maximum)
Required Essay Question (2 of 3)
During your 12 months in the Program, what impact do you hope to have on your classmates and on their Ivey experience? (250 words maximum)
Required Essay Question (3 of 3)
If you could be a field reporter anywhere in the world, where would you want to go and why? (250 words maximum)


Rotman

1. Discuss your personal and professional development over the past five years and describe how these changes have led you to choose to do your MBA at this time. What are your career goals and how will a Rotman MBA help you to achieve them?
(Please limit your answer to 500 words)
2. One of the Rotman School's underlying principles is the value of one; this reflects the belief that each member of the Rotman community has unique needs and talents. What are your greatest talents and/or abilities and how would each enhance the experience of your classmates?
(Please limit your answer to 250 words)
3. Imagine that ten years from now a colleague is describing you to a new employee. What will s/he say about you that you are not known for now? How will you achieve these new skills?

York

Essay #1

Assessing your career progress to date, describe your short and long term career goals and how the Schulich School of Business will contribute to these plans and your future success.
 
Essay #2
The following question will assist the Admissions Committee in evaluating your application. Please answer the following question and ensure that each essay is no more than 750 words in length. (unless otherwise stated) Your name should appear on each page of the essay.
The Schulich School of Business is global and widely recognized for its diversity. Each applicant has a set of unique experiences and perspectives which contribute to the program. How will your background enhance and broaden your learning and that of your classmates in Schulich's dynamic environment?

Essay #3

(e) Comment on the barriers you encountered that impacted your team's ability to realize its full potential.
(f) Comment on why innovation is critical to success
 
Essay #5 - For those applying to the International MBA (IMBA) Program only
The following question will assist the Admissions Committee in evaluating your application. Please answer the following question and ensure that each essay is no more than 750 words in length. (unless otherwise stated) Your name should appear on each page of the essay.
A letter stating your reasons for applying to the International MBA (IMBA) Program and a declaration of the desired region of interest, country of interest and language specialization is required. In addition, the International MBA Admissions Committee will also consider the applicant's foreign language proficiency and previous international experience or background.
 
Additional Information
Is there any other information or areas of concern in your academic or personal history that you believe would be helpful to the Admissions Committee in considering your application?

你的目标其实很明确了,好好研究一下essay的写法,CD上有很多的关于essay的帖子。祝你成功!

提个建议,你要想好如何避免被加拿大的学校认为你是为了坐移民监而去读书的。

呵呵,谢谢各位DX的鼓励和意见。

楼上的意见很重要,需要认真考虑,其实我是想念MBA,为减少学费和能够比较容易申请到贷款,才移民的。。。。。

lz如果写essay 估计风格和我一样是罗嗦型的,喜欢前因后果都交代清楚

比如帖子里老婆怀孕不能照X光。。。这样的detail,其实对这个帖子的主题没有任何贡献啊。。。

LZ写essay一定要注意哈。。。扯远了。。。
