In your country, is there more need for land to be left in its natural condition or is there more need for land to be developed for housing and industry? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
When I read a bad news from the paper on this Monday, I can not believe my eyes. the plan of destroying the largest forest in my city and constructing a new factory for economic benefit disappointed me so much, everyone live in my city are all anxious about the predictable terrible result from this plan. As an opponent, I constantly believe that a great city should be blended perfectly with the nature include the landscape and animals. Protecting our city from acid-rain, greenhouse and likes is our mission to complete whatever for the children or our circumstance. Do you want to see a sky covered by black smoke? Do you want to drink water polluted by chemical? I think nobody will give me the answer “yes”. There is no doubt that everyone can gain some economic benefit from the industry such as much of job opportunities, absorbing investors to my city, maybe our city will derive a booming time of economic from the industry. We can not ignore that, however, we will pay much more for the booming time. You can image that in order to enhance the reputation of the city and increase the GDP, our government cut down a tremendous amount of trees, scared away the animals and then construct a large amusement park. There will be a great carnival in this park, and people will enjoy a happy time, just cutting some trees by which the government solved the economic problem easily and excellently. On the other hand, what will be happen in the future? We have to face the lost of our nature landscape, lost the opportunities of playing with the lovely animals, and our children even do not know the original face of the earth. Moreover, it is regret that we have no good ideas to recover the nature in a short time so far. Another factor which should deserve some words is the rising of pollution. As we know, constructing industry will not only destroy the nature landscape of my city, but also bring us some new troubles we must to deal with like diseases related to pollution. According to a report, over millions of people are died from the pollution each year and the number is still increasing. The report indicates there are many people are killed by this invisible killer, especially the people who are poor and live in an area next to the pollution zone. Nowadays, a lot of diseases we know are all involved in the pollution and influence the people’s lives without any notice or warning. That means if we permit the industry construct in our city, instead of obtaining the benefit from the industry, we should have spend much of time and money (maybe from the industry) to protect our body healthy from pollution at first. All in all, although industry also plays an important role in our modern society, in terms of the healthy and environment, refusing the industry based on destruction and pollution will be much help to us. Thus, we should consider the negative effect of industry rather than relatively less benefit. |
