关于咨询公司work load的疑问

其实4楼的观点未必不对。咨询公司的角色就是以独立第三方的角度来帮助企业发现和解决问题，其实，咨询人员在行业知识方面比不过行业从业人员，但咨询讲究
以结构式的逻辑思路来拆解企业说遇到的问题，并通过借鉴行业best
practice提出适合企业发展的建议。这也是为什么咨询界很推崇麦肯锡方法及咨询公司招聘时会者重考察应聘人的逻辑思维能力。

当然，4楼认为咨询报告很多都是理论化，这确实是目前咨询行业的通病，报告中用纯理论简单堆砌在一起，和企业实际状况不能紧密结合，这样的报告放之四海皆准，那对企业来说就是一堆废纸。坦率地说，我刚进咨询公司的前两个项目就是这样做的，后来才慢慢改进，这需要一个过程。

对于楼主的问题，我还是以那句话作为宗旨：你不只是在选择一种工作或职业，你还是在选择一种生活方式。选择咨询，就意味着你至少一周出差5天，周末也许要加班，你没有固定的作息时间，你必须忍受独自在外，没有家人陪伴的生活，必须协调好工作与生活，协调好家庭：
- 如果你结婚了，或已经有孩子了，恭喜你，你的家人会一直在你耳边抱怨你的工作，抱怨你没有尽到丈夫/妻子/爸爸/妈妈/儿子/女儿责任，比如我，我加入咨询那一年，老婆怀孕。孩子出生后一周，开始几个月的出差
- 如果你没结婚，也恭喜你，你可能会离结婚越来越远，因为你没有时间约会，甚至打电话

如果上述困难都没有难倒你的话，再次恭喜你，欢迎加入咨询行业，因为你能得到：
－世界上最锻炼人的工作
－和一群高智商的人一起工作（这很重要）
－未来广阔的职业发展前途（无论你继续做咨询，还是跳到其他行业，有咨询行业背景都是很好的plus）
－当然，最实惠也是最重要的，你辛苦的付出肯定会得到丰厚的物质回报，这点不用怀疑，这也是支撑我继续前进的动力之一：）
－
谈到激情，这是最重要的，无论你做什么，从事什么行业，首先你问自己想成为什么样的人，以什么样的标准衡量自己就会有什么样的激情。我想在最短的时间里成
为一个可以和CXO级的人物平等交流的人，我想在40岁之前赚到足够我家人生活的钱，然后去做自己想做的事。这都是目标，也许会牺牲很多，但最终取决于你
想成为什么样的人？看看哪些富豪和CXO们，他们已经足够富有了，但他们还每天工作10几小时，仅仅只是为了赚更多的钱？
当然，每个人的追求都是不同的，并不是说追求高标准的人就比其他人过得好，关键在于每个人自己的想法，只要自己喜欢，做什么都可以的。
－还有一点，真的是要喜欢这份工作，激情终将退却的。

说了这么多废话，希望对楼主有启发。PS：现在物流人才在咨询行业很缺，楼主可以把握一下，当然读个MBA是必不可少的，一旦决定，越快越好。祝你成功

LZ 对consulting的理解太精辟了，让我有了清晰的认识，我现在正在申请mba,准备毕业做consulting,我喜欢这个行业，应该说这种生活方式。

一般在咨询公司都是full committed to one project，但是fisheryang说当时在咨询的时候同时做好几个项目，我估计也就bain是这样的吧。但是如果真的在bain的话，一周70-80小时可能还不够，bain做的DD项目很多，基本上都是80小时以上八。

反正按照我在麦肯锡的经验，一周至少70-80小时，不包括吃饭时间，但是包括travel时间。这样和投行比起来，还算少了20-30个小时，不过钱可能要少40-50%（total package）。不过就是这20-30个小时，让我们感受到了生活的乐趣，而不是workholic

What do you do in those 70hr/wk?  Reading materials, writing emails and preparing PPT?  It wouldnt take that amount of time.  You dont need to do routine operations, so I have strong doubt on the substance of work you consultants do.

I dont see that "MBA" ever creates any value.  All he does is checking emails and going thru slides that even he has no idea as to what is being talked about. What can he learn from the work?!  Those working on daily operations like people in accoutning/financial analysis, sales, manufacturing, IT support etc are really indispensable to the company and not a single company can live without them.  And although they shoulder the most resposibilities, they are most poorly paid.  I have seen many costly projects failed and the consultants took their checks and just left.

大部分时间是花在和客户syndicate上面，这个比读读东西，做做ppt更重要

That is kind of true. Sometimes Clients paid very dear for solving simple problems. ;)

The reason maybe they can not afford the risk of losing and consultant will be a perfect candidate to complain about if something goes wrong...

Anyway, this is life. Sometimes you got paid for nothing... Sometimes you did not get any thing for hard work.
