I don't know much about caceer support in other MFE programs but I think our career support from program director is just so so, I mean for internship. Our director did spread out our resume book, but it only works for relative small firms such as DTE Energy trading and risk management. As career service we really gain a lot from Ross School of Business: you can join their Finance and Investment clubs, try to contact Ross Alumni, ask MBAs for resume critique and do the mock interviews with successful MBAs. To be honest, if you wanna become a quant, Cornell is really better than UMich MFE. Coz the MFE education here is not that quant focus, instead you have great flexibility for your course selections. Your information about the internship placement this year matches what I heard. NYU, Columbia, Cornell, Princetion all did bad for the internship search this year. The only thing I think we did good this year is because we are very active for networking. However your 70% seems to be confusing coz I heard there are over 150 ppl in that program but only less than 30 ppl are in FE track(am I right?) thus is it for FE or MSE all together? Overall I think Cornell is a great choice for you, if you wanna be a quant and if you wanna a job mainly in NYC area. |
