that's the problem. if ur company lays off people, u will probably be rejected by INS no matter u apply yourself or through ur company.

H-1B 是只有公司的sponsorship才能办的。有的公司给出材料，但是不出钱，所以才会有自己找律师办的情况。但是大公司通常都有自己的律师。另一点就是，H-1B和绿卡是没有直接关系的的。一个是非移民签证，一个是移民签证。

That is correct and was the case of one of my friends which I posted before.

As I posted in another thread, MBA admission - placement - immigration status, was the three huge barrier ahead of our chinese students, the later the harder.

Just as the above posts said, it is generally not easy to accomplished unless you are a  millionair or the so-called "special talend".

I remember that the INS has curtailed the H1 quota by nearly 70% from 195000 to 6500 (Correct me if my data is wrong.) , which make the way of GC even difficult.
