OG11(紫皮)SC-72
The gyrfalcon,an Arctic bird of prey, has survived a close brush with extinction;its numbers are now five times greater than when the use of DDT was sharply restricted in the early 1970’s.
(A)  extinction;its numbers are now five times greater than
(B)  extinction;its numbers are now five times more than
(C)  extinction, their numbers now fivefold what they were
(D)  extinction, now with fivefold the numbers they had
(E)  extinction, now with numbers five times greater than

OG11(紫皮)SC-73
Analysts blamed May's sluggish retail sales on unexciting merchandise as well as the weather, colder and wetter than was usual in some regions, which slowed sales of barbecue grills and lawn furniture
(A)  colder and wetter than was usual in some regions, which slowed
(B)  which was colder and wetter than usual in some regions, slowing
(C)  since it was colder and wetter than usually in some regions, which slowed
(D)  being colder and wetter than usually in some regions, slowing
(E)  having been colder and wetter than was usual in some regions and slowed

OG11(紫皮) 语法SC 55

55. In one of the most stunning reversals in the history of marketingthe Coca—Cola company in July 1985 yielded to thousands of irate consumers demanding that it should bring back the original Coke formula

(A)  demanding that it should

(B)  demanding it to

(C)  and their demand to

(D)  who demanded that it

(E)  who demanded it to

It bring should be it brings.

OG11(紫皮) 语法SC 63

63. Certain pesticides can become ineffective if used repeatedly in the same placeone reason is suggested by the finding that there are much larger populations of pesticide-degrading microbes in soils with a relatively long history of pesticide use than in soils that are free of such chemicals

(A)  Certain pesticides can become ineffective if used repeatedly in the same placeone reason is suggested by the finding that there are much larger populations of pesticide-degrading microbes in soils with a relatively long history of pesticide use than in soils that are free of such chemicals

(B)  If used repeatedly in the same placeone reason that certain pesticides can become ineffective is suggested by the finding that there are much larger populations of pesticide-degrading microbes in soils with a relatively long history of pesticide use than in soils that are free of such chemicals

(C)  If used repeatedly in the same placeone reason certain pesticides can become ineffective is suggested by the finding that much larger populations of pesticide-degrading microbes are found in soils with a relatively long history of pesticide use than those that are free of such chemicals

(D)  The finding that there are much larger populations of pesticide-degrading microbes in soils with a relatively long history of pesticide use than in soils that are free of such chemicals is suggestive of one reasonif used repeatedly in the same placecertain pesticides can become ineffective

(E)  The finding of much larger populations of pesticide-degrading microbes in soils with a relatively long history of pesticide use than in those that are free of such chemicals suggests one reason certain pesticides can become ineffective if used repeatedly in the same place

选了A.

OG11(紫皮) 语法SC  79

79. Scientists have observed large concentrations of heavy—metal deposits in the upper twenty centimeters of Baltic Sea sedimentswhich are consistent with the growth of industrial activity there.

(A)  Baltic Sea sedimentswhich are consistent with the growth of industrial activity there

(C)  Baltic Sea sedimentsfindings consistent with its growth of industrial activity

(D)  sediments from the Baltic Seafindings consistent with the growth of industrial activity in the area

(E)  sediments from the Baltic Seaconsistent with the growth of industrial activity there

OG11(紫皮)SC-85
Any medical test will sometimes fail to detect a condition when it is present and indicate that there is one when it is not.
(A)  a condition when it is present and indicate that there is one
(B)  when a condition is present and indicate that there is one
(C)  a condition when it is present and indicate that it is present
(D)  when a condition is present and indicate its presence
(E)  the presence of a condition when it is there and indicate its presence

正确答案中的it似乎也可以指代medical test,OG的解释中说“In this sentence the pronoun it does not always refer to condition, and, for the sake of clarity and correctness,it must”^_^

OG11(紫皮)SC-92
According to a study by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, companies in the United States are providing job training and general education for nearly eight million people, about equivalent to the enrollment of the nation's four-year colleges and universities.
(A)  equivalent to the enrollment of
(B)  the equivalent of those enrolled in
(C)  equal to those who are enrolled in
(D)  as many as the enrollment of
(E)  as many as are enrolled in

正确答案E中,是不是省略了those,补全为 as many as those are enrolled in ?

OG11(紫皮)SC-102
Although Napoleon's army entered Russia with far more supplies than they had in their previous campaigns,it had provisions for only twenty-four days.
(A)  they had in their previous campaigns
(B)  their previous campaigns had had
(C)  they had for any previous campaign
(D)  in their previous campaigns
(E)  for any previous campaign

这个比较级太简化了,没敢选,补全后是不是 than those they had had for any previous campaign ?

begin as, depict as, regard as, perceive as, represent as, see as, be prizeless as, be acclaimed as, think of as, be seem as

6consider

aim at doing something

the  -er (more) the…

Be credit with doing  ;  credit sb with doing参见OG31

Took turns doing

Distinguish A from B  ;  distinguish between A and B

Allow so to do 允许     allow that 承认

from…to…当中不能加up or down

opposition = against     orbit = around           annually = a year

and, but, not only……but also(also 有时省略)

ornoreither……orneither……noras well as

rather …than(如果前面有不定式的话后面不定式往往被省略)

not……but(优选结构)from……toas…as…

to do Ato do Bto do Cto do Dand to do E

to do Ado Bdo Cdo Dand do E

EG: ABCDand E

句子出现no, not时(有NONOT才是否定句);“Never… …”

I have never been to U.S.A and Australia.

2)否定句用or替换and

require of sb. that……,其他动词后跟代词(I told you that……)

V + that

V + sb to do

V +sb that

*介词 + which where参见OG59

6As is based 错!

Doubled, tripled, quadrupled

Do it  (指代不清)   ;   do so

every one 错(有歧义); All..  each 对!

Resemble !

肯定句AS…AS…,否定句 NOT SO …ASNEVER…AS…AS…

12betweenamong

between……and  答案通常是between  p16,69

7.对称性问题(最重要):and连接两个部分应当用相同形式,是句子时要尽量使用相同句式,还有not only……but alsoornoreither……orneither……noras well asrather thannot……butfrom……to

即when…when…; that…that…;how…how…;有可能错,但不一定错

3           as的用法

Like A, B do (A, B

Elephants emit low-frequency sounds, believed to originate from a small area on their foreheads, that they may use as a secret language to communicate with other members of the herd.

to have beento be好,to have beenbelieve之前就是的。
