I wanna share my thoughts here. It's easy to reach answers D and E.
At first blush, I found E lacks "can" after SS, so I think the sentence is ambiguous since it means either 'JR will be able to deliver a heavier load of instruments into orbit than the space shuttle [will be able to do]' or ''JR will be able to deliver a heavier load of instruments into orbit than [deliver] space shuttle'.However, it's common sense that space shuttle is a kind of vehicle to deliver instrument rather than instrument itself. Thus, the lack of "can" should not be a split as long as the sentense is not ambiguous.
OK, once I can not find determinate error among choices, I have to think about the meaning of these sentences. Because the original sentence seems not to say the JR cost less, but to say the delivery cost less. Therefore, answer D is fit.
Note: keep the meaning of answer as that of original sentence. This is rule of thumb which hasn't verified by GMAT, but works well till now. Manhattan also advocates this rule |
