UT has great programs in Entrepreneurship and Marketing (CPG and hi-tech)

For those who are interested in these areas, I highly recommend UT.

But finding a job that you like is always a challenge in US.

Be physically and mentally prepared. Getting a good GMAT score is just the start of the game

To IaMumu,

总体排名不代表专业 先决定专业 再比较专业教学的好坏

然后考虑去什么样的公司工作吧。顶尖的公司很多来UT, 但是竞争很激烈。

rice在houston 来的中小公司也许会比UT

just some general info out of my personal observation:  the average working time is 5 years, so most people are around 27-29 and this is totally the case in my study team, though one guy just turned into 24! background wise, two majorities are engineers( especially the indians) or people who has a business degree for their undergraduates( but then again, they did all kinds of different jobs before come to UT). For TOEFL, if you can make it higher,  I suggest you do it. Not only for the score but also for your own benifits---language barrier is still one of the biggest challenge we face at school, especially at the beginning. so hopefully you can improve your English by practising TOEFL.

Good Luck!

where u got the information?105 is a threshold for chinese applicants?

I learned that 79 (internet-based test) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is considered the minimum acceptable for admission to the University of Texas at Austin.

Here is the letter I got from the adcom. The difference makes me confused about the IBT requirement.

Did the adcom mention that 105 is the average score for admission? 'casue here the adcom just said 79

is the minimum requirement. Do you keep the orginial letter from adcom? I wanna double comfirm the requirement

for fear that wasting time and money to apply McCombs. 3x

Thank you for your interest in the McCombs School of Business.

A score of 550 (paper test), 213 (computer-based test), or 79 (internet-based test) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is considered the minimum acceptable for admission to the University of Texas at Austin.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.  Thanks.

UT-Austin has a part time program in Houton. It takes about two and half hours to drive to Austin from Houston.

McCombs Admissions Committee

Just got confirmation from the director of admission.  The limits 550, 213 and 79 are the University required minimums but McCombs has different limits for MBA.

For MBA, our recommended minimums are 105 for IBT and 260 (computer-based) and 620 (paper-based).
