Hi, emfangf, please refer to the below for the feedback i received from adcom regarding to your question of TOEFL.

Hello XXXX,

We do sometimes exceptionally review applications with a 104 TOEFL. We might start the selection process of this candidate and advise her at a later stage to retake the test. She could send her application with this TOEFL score and at the same time schedule another test date or get prepared to retake it. Thank you very much. I hope it helps.

Best regards,

Virginie

欲飞, try to put at least 2 years under your belt before considering the INSEAD MBA.

i cannot remember how long TOEFL and GMAT is valid for.  Since it will be 2 years before you apply/go for an MBA, try taking TOEFL one year and GMAT the other.  more time to prepare for it.

thank you for your answer

but what i need to emphasize is that i donnt like MBA, i just want to study toward finance planning(or services),investment or insurance fields. i donnt know whether  INSEAD accepts the applicants  who intends to apply for these specialties without  any  WE. its right my question, hope you could help me,thanks!

This is definitely the most informative INSEAD thread! Thank you all for the sharing and contribution.I've got a question on admission rounds. Does it make a difference to apply in R2 and R3?

i believe so far INSEAD has never admitted anyone from china who has no w/e. The average age of chinese in here is around 29/30, slightly older than the school average which is 28.

plus there is no regular master degree provided in INSEAD. but only MBA, EMBA, PhD,and executive educations

there should be no difference between R2 and R3.

but bear in mind that it is like a rolling admission.  they will offer the seats...as you go later in the rounds, there will be less seats available.  this is coming from the school's point of view.

Thanks bolei for your quick reply. I'll submit the application for R3.

From the posts in the thread, I can see a somewhat special group of people with similar tertiary education and career background with me (Came SGP a few years back, studied in NIE->NTU/NUS, landed a job and some years down the road realized the career shouldn't be limited by the major we were allowed to take, and started to considering for a change…). Bolei seems to be one of the pioneers who stepped into the INSEAD MBA. Do you know how many people followed this path and how they are doing now? I'm very keen to get in touch with you guys and learn about your experience.

I think what you said is one of the typical types of INSEADers. Generally speaking, INSEAD likes people with international background. Many people here were born in a country, studied in another country and then landed a job in a third country.

In the case of Chinese INSEADers who studied in SGP, some of them went back to industry while others made a career switch to finance and consulting.

Time really flies. We will have P2 exams in two weeks.

I went to an Indian Big Fat Wedding Party organized by INSEAD Indian students. It was well planned but the food was so so. Indian students represent 14% of the student body here. Quite a big group in fact.

One of the big funs to be an INSEAD is all the national weeks. Within the 7-days national week, the students will have a chance to experience the beauty of a different culture. We finished bidding national weeks for next year last week and won ourselves a seat. Our slogan was "Dragon is coming!" We tried to be fun by presenting a "traditional Chinese wedding" but the it seemed INSEADers are more into food and parties. Lol.

From the last posts, is it true that new policy will restrict the percentage from a single country to 12% at most? Why do China students only represent 3%? It's not matching the populationa and economy scale of China.
