238 OG解释：Line 5-15indicate that in the 1840 US census, individuals were classified by occupational categories. It can inferred from this information that the 1840 census provided a count of person in occupations other than farming. 为什么能从文中推出：1840的统计中没有从事农业的人数（却有从事非农业的人数）呢？

而且， A选项错误的解释是：Line 19-29 suggest that the number of women who worked exclusively in the home could not have been determined from US census data brfore 1890, since the 1890 census was the first in which overlap between women who worked outside the home and women who worked in the home was determined. 但原文中“Not until 1870 was occupational information analyzed by gender: the census superintendent reported 1.8 million women employed outside the home in “gainful and reputable occupations.” In addition, he arbitrarily attributed to each family one woman “keeping house.””这一段难道不能说明1870年已可以得出“the number of women who worked exclusively in the home”么？还是我理解错误阿？这句话的意思是“在家庭之外工作的女性的人数”么，1.8millon不是这个人数么？

能推出从事农业的人数啊~也因此才得到了从事非农业的人数

exclusively是only的意思,也就是指只在家里的女性.  1.8是在外工作的女性数目,那个superintendent的统计是arbitrary的,他说每家有且只有一个女性是在家的,这个错误造成了overlap,直到1890才澄清了overlap.
