A CDer sent me a message:

"hi, 御风行, I'm sorry to bother you again. I received feedback from CBS last night and was informed I was waitlisted. What's my chance of being admitted, in your opinion? the following is what CBS sent to me, would you pls take a look and give some suggestions? thank you very much

The Admissions Committee has given full consideration to your Early Decision candidacy for the class entering September 2007. While we recognize the strengths in your application, we regret that we are unable to offer you admission at this time. However, we would like to defer our final decision until we have reconsidered your application within the broader pool.  "

To help more people who might encounter the same problem, I am posting my reply here.

As far as I know, "reconsider" is better than "waitlist", because it means that you will be treated the same as second round applicants, while "waitlist" means you won't be considered again until there's slots unfilled.

To increase your chance to be admitted, go through relevant threads on CD. I don't have much say on this. All I know is that you can update the adcom of your recent achievement/improvement, keep in touch with your interviewer, etc.

FELLOWSHIP和大部分的SCHOLARSHIP时间基本一样。大概在7-15K之间。中国大陆的学生多少都有一些。因为CBS是ROLLING BASIS的，到后来就变成用第三轮的人来填空了，录取可能恐怕有限。如果能前几轮申请，最好还是早申请。

关于FELLOWSHIP和SCHOLARSHIP的区别，请查阅哥大网站，里面有很详细地介绍。

我想你提交的时候如果是过了ed的deadline，应该就会变成regular八。。这个还要问问adcom.

essay的不同不大了解。不过，一月份的mba暑假需要上课，是没有summer intern做的。可能会对找工作有一定影响。所以一月份的申请人一般有return offer或者对毕业后的职业发展有清晰的计划和现成的机会。
