Finished my Columbia  interview yesterday afternoon with a very nice alumni. It was a very enjoyable process, as we had a really pleasant talk. I was pretty relaxed, and even joked a little bit. Guess I am being myself. Only that I was a little bit too relaxed to mention some strong points I have. Anyway, I have done my part, and wish my experience would be helpful for other CDers.  

He asked quite a few standard questions, some of them I didn't prepare for.

1. Why MBA?

2. If not MBA what else would you do to achieve your goal?

3. Why now?

4. What other schools?

5. Team work.

6. Leadership.

7. What is the most challenging thing you have faced in work?

8. If you were to start a business now, what kind of business would you do? (I never mentioned that I want to be an entrepreneur, wondering why he asked me this question)

9. If you didn't get in this year, what would you do, will you apply next year?

10. Since you have two years working experience, why would columiba choose you over the other applicants who have 5+ years working experience?

We also talked about my current job, and he asked some specific quesitons about my work.

He shared with me his experience with CBS, and really sold the school with passion!

All the CBS Alums I met in BJ are nice and proud of their schools. I do like the CBS people!

Zuoyu, thanks for your sharing, I am prepare some interviews, but had hard time to find questions to ask those alumni, would you please share some questions you prepared for alumni? thanks a lot.

By the way, do you know how long you will get the result after you finish your interview?

我是英语专业去年毕业，现在有一年多的工作经验，打算明年申请后年入学的，GMAT刚考过，只考了710，请问这个分数如果要申请哥大的话需要重考吗？本来还希望GMAT考高一点可以加点分。。。

Ask something about the concentrations you want to take, the courses, professors. And you could also ask their experience.

I guess the result could be out in one to three weeks.

那就是说,哥大很在乎GMAT高分? 700分是不是基本没有可能录取?

Not necessarily impossible, but as GMAT plays a relatively important role (compared to other schools), that might be a slight disadvantage. However, you can always stand out if you have wonderful w/e, great essays.and decent GPA (if college was not far away back in your life)

哥大在1月10日之前才可以考虑FELLOWSHIP,请问这是基于什么标准发放的呢?覆盖面广吗?大约多少米?

因为最近很忙.如果可能性小钱又少,就不想赶这个时间了,而且哥大的第二轮直到3月1日,时间相对充裕些(不过如果是在快到3月1日时才交,可能在实际上也太晚了吧?)

i am an reapplicant too.. submitted on Oct 11st, last status changed on Oct 27th.. still waiting for interview invitation.. Saw some people already got interview.. does it mean i am not in the consideration again?

So long as you don't get a "we are sorry" letter, there's still hope...

Don't worry too much. When there's nothing more you can do, just let it be.
