我本科是学新闻的，想去念会计的master，能考CPA的那种？对专业背景有什么要求啊？如果考了ACCA有没有帮助啊？或者还有什么其他的方法可以加强竞争力呢？

So so happy to hear that. I am living in US too. I got my Ph.D here and worked for a US company for 3 years.

This news is really encouraging. I have been using all my spare time on GMAT study,but some people told me there is no way you can get into B-school with pure engineering backgroud. It seems it is not true.

请问是要申请master还是mba? 如果是mba, 申请的时候是不用分专业的，所以acca只是帮助增强职业方面的内容，对于其他的方面还是需要好好准备。如果是master，建议去phd/master区问问。

In my opinion, Engineering PHD is easier to write good essays than Econ PhD. You have become a master in engineering knowledge, now you need business training to help you start your own company and change your ideas into reality. Such essays can be convincible and inspiring. Good luck with your application. Hope to see you next year in CBS

Personally, I do not think ACCA will help you a lot in your application. In US, not many people know about this certificate. If you want to pursue a CPA career in future, you can consider the MACC degree.

I agree with eternalwind though.

I think the most difficult thing in the application is not to fit in, but to stand out.

As engineer, you can easily fit in (quantative background) and stand out (unless you are software engineer - then you will face fierce competition from India).

The only thing you might have to take care of is try to think "out of the box" and to demonstrate your communication/leadership skills.

今天终于在北京完成了我的面试（perhaps all alumnis of CBS in Beijing are so busy）：

今天面试我的是位非常nice的新加坡ABC，口语说得倍儿快，让我刚开始频频难以接招，而且这位仁兄明显不按“套路出牌”，就问了我一个常规问题：why MBA?（真不敢相信他甚至连why columbia都没问），其余的时间几乎全是free talk，总共聊了1小时40分左右。我感觉今天的面试至少很愉快，而且我们聊了很多professional方面比较深入的话题，他人真的很nice,有几处我表达不清楚的地方他还准许我speak in chinese.

我想走到今天我能做的已经都做了，不管最后结果如何，也都不遗憾了。

最后在这里我要特别感谢：御风行同学在百忙中三次给我认真的回贴！感谢素未谋面过的Tim zhou老大哥在我拿到面试通知后特意从上海打来的长途电话给我鼓励！

我想问一下~

读了一年或者两年的MBA，GGJJ们觉得之前的工作经验对学习MBA的最大的帮助是什么呢？或者说之前的工作经验最大的作用是什么呢？

如果没有工作经验的话，在columbia是不是就会很累，或者你们都不愿意带他玩呀？？？
