To encourage more excellent guys to apply for Stanford, I may give some information, esp about financial aids.

1. Fellowship is sure for everybody on the base of needs. It means the poorer you are, the more you will get. You don't need to write essays. It is automatically allocated.

2. You will get the loans automatically, with a low interest rate compared to other b-schools.

3. The famous tsp fellowship is sponsoring Stanford from this year, 2007. It is easy to get the 100k USD if you want to come back to China. Unfortunately, nobody want to take the money this year. I think the main reason are 1) Work opportunity is much more than risk to Stanford guys, 2)The fellowship of Stanford is already attractive.

Actually, you don't need to worry about money when you get the offer.

4. The classmates and Alumni make you scream! 1) They are extremely helpful, always willing to share with you their thoughts and grants. 2) They are funny, 3)They are either handsome or beautiful, believe it or not.

Stanford will never make you disappointed. Just apply for it!

请问:stanford招收的是不是都是偏理工科背景的同学啊,有纯文科北京的同学申请成功过吗?

相对来说理工科背景的多一些，但是事情不是绝对的。台湾的作家王文华（《蛋白质女孩》和《斯坦福的银色子弹》）不就是一个例子吗？所以不要过于担心背景问题。Nothing is impossible.

你的背景不是问题，综合各方面也不错。但要注意有很多和你背景相似的人也会申请，所以要从行业方面细化以区分开来，也可以考虑在个性方面突出自己，以便从你的pool中突出。而且斯坦福相对其他学校更看重的是你的potential，记住单纯的罗列achievement并不能打动它。

请问一个short-term career goal问题：

我的背景是5.5年美国半导体业工程师，EE Master's，有两个短期目标选项：

1。毕业后直接回国做咨询，因为有语言优势，但是需要自己找工作。

2，毕业后在美国做咨询，没有语言优势，但是on-campus recruiting可以帮助。

我想请问，那一个更让adcom信服？

Sorry I can't type Chinese at office.

First of all, the question you raised is a minor point. I don’t think the adcom will care either way.

Second, all the leading MC firms recruit on campus/in the US – even for their Greater China office. You will be able to get support from Career Management Center (CMC) regardless. Actually you don’t need a lot of help from the CMC, because 1) consulting firms are among the most eager companies to recruit MBAs, 2) there aren’t very many choices, most of which are well known, and 3) their recruiting processes are very structured thus predictable.

Third (again this is only my personal opinion), I don’t think language plays that big a role if you plan to go back to China. I’m sure your English is better than the average person who doesn’t have 6 years of working experience in the US; but compared to other qualifications such as critical thinking, business savvy, communication skills (which include but are not limited to language skills), command of English is not the most important factor. Most people, after going through two years of MBA education, will have the English skills necessary to do consulting in China anyway.

向各位请教一下，我在中国的大学是学财政的，毕业后去加拿大念了1年的硕士。现在在联合国开发计划署做企业发展项目。我的目标是做银行基建项目融资，比如国际金融公司什么的。我很喜欢stanford的passion，觉得可以为公共项目所用。大家觉得stanford是否适合我这样的背景，还有我在申请的时候需要着重注意哪些方面呢？多谢了！
