Michigan, Ross School - Students Taking Questions

Hi 飞雪and Laobob,

    I am a prospective applicant to Ross.I have an urgent question for you: I plan to submit my application package before Jan. 7, which is the 2^nd round. However, I found out couples days ago that the score of TOEFL (score was 641) I took more than two years ago, expired. And the nearest date I can take the test is next Jan.14, in addition to that it will take another 8 weeks for the score report to come out, so in that case the earliest I can make is the 3^rd round, and I know as an international student, if I do not make it to the first two rounds, it will put me into a disadvantage. And I asked Ross adimission commitee about what I should do.Their answer is my options would be to either submit an application for Round 3 or wait until next Fall and submit an application for Round 1.However,I really want to try it this year,but I wonder how much chance there will be for a chinese student in Round 3,do you think it will worth it or not,or I should just wait till next fall?

age is never an issue in US. If you don't try, how do you know you are not competitive？Believe yourself, every person has his own uniqueness.

如果在国内，可以直接去香港考（肯定比paper-based test的成绩要来得快），既然想要今年申请，就不要担心多花点银子了（比如1t虽然报名，就随它去吧）。

Ross is one of the schools with best programs in Operations. But as professional in this field, you should know the difference is actually depends on how you define Operations and SCM.  About the job placement, what I know is graduated students all got jobs.  06 students concentrating on Ops all got interns in the US.

What kind of engineering experience will be good for operation concentration? I am a civil engineer, BTW.

the application should be physically received by the admission offfice before the due date. if you use UPS or Fedex, you can send it at the beginning of January. the system works during holidays. otherwise the due date won't be what it is now.

you'll be notified for an incomplete application, which rarely happens. there's a checklist in the application to help you make sure not to miss anything.

有一点要提醒各位M的申请者：虽然网上有CHECKLIST帮助你查漏补缺，但是你最好主动与校方确认，你在附件中ATTACH的东东（简历，GT成绩单，TRANSCRIPT等等）都已经被校方收到，特别在校方的回复很慢的情况下。

我的申请就是一例，虽然SEND完有CONFIRMATION，但我不放心还是打了个电话给校方，结果说我ATTACH的资料一件都没有收到，最后好在及时RE-SEND。

The concentration itself does not ruquire you have engineering background.  While an engineering background can add some value when you looking for job.  I would assume as a civil engineer, you should have some project management experience, which is definitely a plus.

thanks for bring up the case. you're right.

that's why i recommend UPS and Fedex, which provide tracking service. it costs more, but you can ease it up from the logistics issues.

mm都准备interview了，难道没有好好调查一些ross吗？ 否则你的why ross怎么写呢？去ross的网页上看看吧，including its curriculum-for instance, the MAP, and other things for job placement.
