The same year C & S founded in the US, many small private colleges were established in the south to serve newly freed slaves. E &L donated half a million to tens of million to fund the school. Brief introduction of previous founding for black, and in 20th century, situation gradually changed.
A similar disparity existed between black and white state-supported institutions. The morrill act of 1862 build the basis of land-grant institution throughout the country . blake land- grant institution still can get the 100% equal support from state, compare with white land-grant
