P1 - Scholars studying the history of women in revolutions usually begun by examining the ideology and the programs to accomplish women's emancipation. But crucial also is an analysis of the attitudes and behavior of women themselves.
P2 - This article offers a preliminary examination of the documents and suggest interpretations to guide deeper analysis.
P3 - The period of the Russian Revolution was a time of paradox. Whether women chose to preseve traditional institutions or to accept the Bolshevik vision was a consequence to the final outcome of the revolution itself. Only a small minority followed B. These comen were behaving in their own interests and their motives can be appreciated only by examining the revolution as they experienced it.
P4 - After the tsar's fall, a thoroughgoing assuault on the old regime spread and attacks on the ruling class took a variety of forms. In 1917 the tsar was gone and the peasants began to rectify the situation. Some peasant women joined men. The peasants had little interest in changing the customs and organization of village life.
