P1: scholars' view of both the rise and collapse of Maya: Unlike other culture, Maya's rise deviate from water resources, meaning the power was unrealted to water control( there must be other reasons which will be discussed later).
P2: Author's view: 1. scholars overlook the importance of artifical reserviors; 2. water control is related to peak and collpase; 3. size of regions also matters.
