Hey there,
Certain top MBA programs in the US do indeed carry good name recognition in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan (e.g. Harvard, Wharton, Stanford) and top-tier MNC doing business in China are willing to pay a premium over US salary equivalent to employ bilingual, culturally-fluent chinese alums in-country (e.g. consumer packaged goods like Proctor & Gamble, any of the bulge-bracket banks like JPMorgan, or top-flight consulting firms a la M/B/B).

Depending on your existing masters degree and where you obtained it (i.e., the distinction between a lower-tier state school vs. Harvard is big here), and your english language ability, you may not need an MBA degree in addition to your existing credentials in order to get one of the positions referenced above. If you don't feel like you are qualified for these type of jobs in China today and want to be in the future, an M7 MBA may be one way to open those doors.

It should be noted that although there are increasing numbers of Chinese nationals who study at M7 schools and return to China immediately after graduation, most opt to stay in the US and work for a sponsoring company (which are becoming fewer and fewer given the immigration environment in the U.S.). Sponoring companies in the US (those which have the manpower, knowledge and deep pockets to work the immigration system for qualified ex-pats) tend to be in finance, consulting and tech. For this reason, Chinese MBAs from M7 schools tend to be concentrated in these areas and often stay in these industries when they return home in 5-7 years. Many Chinese MBAs opt to stay in the US for 5-7 years due to better employment opporutunities (e.g. compensation to cost-of-living ratio) and to become more fluent in English and western business culture generally. Given the dollar-denominated student loan debt many take on to attend MBA programs, it can be helpful for planning purposes to earn salary in the same currency as the debt and pay down student loans as quickly as possible.

谢谢您的回复!我个人也是倾向于毕业后留美的,但是问了很多学校,申过OPT就没有OPT 用了,所以几乎没有可能性找到工作,由于这个签证的关系。

Hello Raj,
想借楼问一下,我在美国读了个STEM的master项目,毕业后直接回国工作没有申请和使用OPT,这样 ...

Typical OPT is 12 month and STEM program will have 24 month OPT oppotunuty, however upon your graduation and pursuing higher eduacation, your OPT employment will automatically terminate if you have already started your OPT. SEVP will inform USCIS of the termination date, and USCIS will terminate your EAD accordingly. If you didnt apply OPT before graduation, you will not qualify to apply. So to answer your question, no, you wont be able to use OPT for your STEM mater after MBA. However you are still qualified for OPT after MBA graduation, which typically is 12 month with certain exceptions. And with a STEM Master background, the chance for a H1B sponsorship is very high, so you may be able to trasition to H1B after 12 month OPT easily.
