A jewelry dealer initially offered a bracelet  for sale at an asking price that would give a profit to the dealer of 40 percent of the original cost .What was the original cost of the bracelet?

(1)After reducing this asking price by 10 percent ,the jewelry dealer sold the bracelet at a profit of $403.

(2)The jewelry dealer sold the bracelet for $1953.

首先这题为什么(2)不能单独成立呢???售价与"asking price "不是相等的吗??

其次,这题(1)能成立的条件是不是因为"asking price=original cost +profit"??

这个涉及商业知识...珠宝等贵重物品一般要价和卖价是相差很大的，两者不相等，所以条件2不充分

条件1，如果COST是X, 则要价为1.4X...降价10%之后的要价2是0.9*1.4X=1.26X

则利润=1.26X-X=0.26X=403...相应的COST即X可求，充分！

条件1的意思就是sold price是asking p的0.9
