Schulich or Ivey?

Schulich 最近几年排名上升很快,但IVEY却下滑,不知教学质量相比如何?另哪一个就业前景好?

I got to know a guy,  who was admitted by Schulich during his interview , and more amazing, was offered 15,000 scholarship at the same time. But he finally accepted Ivey's offer.  He said he will get more than that studying in Ivey comparing with in Schulich.

I am really in dilemma too, also thess two schools. Ivey's general management is the best, but Schulich is good at marketing and finance(although it is worse than Rotman on this point)

another thing should be taken into account: Ivey is more expensive than York, about 200K for entire MBA life if you are an immigrant.

Of course Schulich. It is true that Ivey was better than York, but since Ivey is sliding down rapidly and is located in a small town 200 mile away from Toronto, it is not likely that Ivey can attract first rate profs. anymore. Schulich ranked only after Rotman, and its graduates have much more opportunities to find their first job in Toronto. If the trends continues, Schulich can have a brighter future than Ivey.

I couldn't see any dilemma here, it makes no sense to compare Schulich with Ivey, normally we only talk about Rotman vs.Ivey.

How did you figure out 200K? Should be around 90K CD$ for Ivey MBA life.

At the end, seems you have very little understanding to Canadian business schools, that's dangerous. How do you plan to invest so much time & money in two-year life which you have no idea about?

hi, bah-toronto, Thank you for your information. That's 200K is RMB, not CAD, sorry for the misleading.

you are right, the Ivey's life can be 9-10k, while the York's is about 7, that's where the difference comes from.

Thank you very much, I have read many your posts here, logic and sound, although I still don't understand why you hold such a negative concern about York. Looking forward to meeting you in Toronto.

hi, lisalee

I submitted my York's application material on about Jan. 15, got the interview invitation on Feb, 11, and I was interviewed by Mr. Beechy on Feb. 24 in Shanghai, and got my offer on March 4. In fact, when I finished the interview, I have already known that I can be admitted.

as to your case, i am not sure what happens to your Schulich's application. Under normal conditions, they will give you an interview invitation one month after they receive your materials and they can give you their final decision in two weeks after the interview.

the Email offer arrived on March 4, but the package arrived on about March 24, they sent it by regular mail. But I know  a girl in Beijing whose package was sent by DHL, maybe because she is an international student and the school want to give her more time for her visa.

Till now, maybe I have already made up my mind where to go, I will prefer Ivey, after all, it is the best school in Canada, especially its general management and its case study method, suitable for my future plan. In fact, I don't think Ranking is something very important, what's more important is your specification and your career plan. Of course, we can't forget the financial problem, but one of our Ivey's classmates told me that he got the Loan very easy, just half hour in bank and he asked for 75K line of credit, 4.75% interest rates, 15 years. Sounds good.

if you are interested in General management and also want to do some Sino-canada business or want to return China to develop yourself, Ivey is your only choice. But if you want to stay in Canada, then you will think it over, hehe

after all, maybe this time is the final time for us to decide where we will go and what we will do.

looking forward to meeting you in MSN and Ivey. (or Schulich, I have paid the first instalment, 2000 CAD)
