CR 补充材料 36 题, 请教高手

CR 补充材料 36 题

觉得选项比较混淆,哪位看一下。对的对在哪儿,错的错在哪儿。谢谢!

advertiser: the revenue that newspapers and magazines earn by publishing advertisements allows publishers to keep the prices per copy of their publications much lower than would otherwise be possible. Therefore, consumers benefit economically from advertising.
consumer: but who pays for the advertising that pays for low-priced newspapers and magamines? we consumers do, because advertisers pass along advertising costs to us through the higher prices they charge for their products

which of the following best describes how the consumer counters the advertiser's argument?
a. by alleging something that, if true, would weaken the plausibility of the advertiser's conclusion
e. by arguing that the advertiser too narrowly restricts the discussion to the effects of advertising that are economic

I'd like to choose A. The advertiser's conclusion is that consumers benefit economically from advertising. And the consumer argues that that is not the case by mentioning other more expense. Choice E is wrong because the consumer are not satisfied with the integrity of the argument but with the conclusion of the argument.
Thanks.

a? you mean "consumer are satisfied with the conclusion(of the advertiser)?"
??

我是这样想的:
e. advertiser把对effect的讨论局限(narrowly restrict)在"报社和消费者的关系"上(而不考虑消费者买做广告的产品)

以下是引用coolgmat在2003-8-6 0:36:00的发言:

sorry to confuse you. Ok. Let me try another way.
The advertiser's conclusion is that customers benefit economically from advertising because of lower-priced newspaper. Then, the customer refutes the argument by other expenses caused by advertising. So the customer claims that customers WILL NOT benefit economically from advertising.
If E is correct, that means that there're some economical effects from the advertising. But the increased product price overcomes the lower price of newspaper. So what's gonna be the economical effect of the advertising?

"effects of advertising that are economic" is quite a vague expression that confused me when I was scanning the choice of E. coolgmat, you are right. acutually the advertiser is amplfing the economic(al) effect by neglecting increased price of the products.

the "If E is right..." method is quite good weapon dealing with gmat. heard of it when attending xdf lecture. you made good use it.

thanks!
