Duke Fuqua vs. Cambridge Judge

两个offer，选哪个呢?

本人方向是GM和Consulting，短期想在美国或香港，长期应该是在亚洲

Cambridge Judge 在美国好找工作吗? Duke Fuqua 在香港好找工作吗?

大家帮我出出主意，多谢啦~~~

Cambridge is an internationally recognised name – everywhere you go around the work, the schools brand will standout.

If you intend to work in the US, I believe that when you are at Cambridge you will be exposed to a large number of alumni, students or careers office

people that can help you secure a job in the US – the school has quite an extensive network.

The Cambridge name is especially prominent in Asia i.e. HK, Singapore, Malaysia, etc where Duke is not really recognised.

Top consulting firms i.e BCG, Bain, etc “only” recruit from top 20 universities in the world, and Cambridge is always there, where Duke will move up or down the list.

Especially for Consulting, where they use the candidates background to sell the clients their ability to provide great advice.

Duke is well known in big US companies' China office.

European companies do not take MBA degree as seriously as US companies. That is why you can not find many MBA in their top management team, at least in the case of Unilever China where I can find only one or two INSEADers as their MKT directors. Of course a lot of the directors go to Ceibs to get an EMBA after they reach D level because the tuition is paid by the company.

I am talking about corporate. No idea about consulting.

If you have not lived in both countries before. I would suggest Judge.

I like Europe very much. But I am a little bit fed up. So I have been wondering about the USA.

This forum has been heavily shadowed by American Culture.

There is a whole world outside the USA.

haha... It is very funny that 2 IMD guys participated in the vote: one voted for Duke and the other for Judge. So you see, even within the same business school, there is diversity!

To gina, American Culture is more valued there in "American MBA forum", not here la... We are only discussing the 2 programmes themselves. Of course the best choice also depends on LZ's background: prefer one-year or two-year programme? like American culture? where to land the first job? (U.S is different from HK, so if your choice is U.S, it is definitely Duke. But HK, I am not sure, maybe Cam)....Whether he has got some scholarship from one of the two? etc.

Also, GM and Consulting are two completely different things. Consulting can be viewed as a short term goal, to most of the people. GM can be a long term goal but a few years in consulting does not necessarily lead to a career in G.M: not every consultant can walk out of MBB successfully and a lot of them are just stuck there.... And there are a lot of roads to lead you to a GM career, not necessarily by MBB. So think about your own strong points before you make the decision.

I agree with the GM and consulting bit.

I found they are two very different goals. Don't know how LZ put these two together. Difficult to compare.

Also, individual background is important. I had a lot unrealistic plans. And later I found that two years programme is not very practical for myself. One year programme fits better for me.

Whoever wears the shoes should pick the shoe!

多谢大家的建议，的确，选校不是随大溜的事，一定要和自己情况结合。
在这里加些有用的信息，望大家继续出建议哈：
Duke no $, 2 years;
Cambridge with 20k $, 1 year;
总体费用来说肯定Duke比Cambridge高1倍。另外不知道duke在香港找工作情况，昨天听个师兄说香港的话cambridge比duke好使, 如果是美国那就不用想一定是duke因为美国好像不太认英国1年的MBA即便是cambridge, 而如果中国大陆的话，和香港一样就选cambridge, 因为duke远不如cambridge知道的人多。
而我本人背景engineer,想转consulting 或 GM。短期美国或香港，长期说真的现在还看不清，想亚洲，因为毕竟是中国人，我觉得在美国可能找个稳定工作不成问题，但如果想进入高层还是得回国，毕竟国内机会多且语言文化通。另外我属于大龄申请者，30多岁了都。我的背景可见http://forum.chasedream.com/North_American_MBA/thread-818203-1-1.html
