28. “Because businesses use high-quality advertising to sell low-quality products, schools should give students extensive training in how to make informed decisions before making purchases.” Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion expressed above. Support your point of view with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading. The statement argues that schools should training students on how to make decisions before purchase. Though the passage gives reasonable assumption that it is school’s duty to training students not be cheated by exaggerate advertisement, my view is schools can teach students the principle for what is informed decision, but it is not school can teach students how to make right decision and how to become a smart consumer. Firstly, the main responsibility for schools is teach students principles and methods useful to their lifetime living and guide students to choose right life road, not just training students to become good purchasers. Let us review one normal student’s school days from elementary school to college, what he have learned is knowledge help him to become a useful man to his family, to his country, not knowledge to become a wise consumer. I believe no parents will let their child to a school focus on training students how to make right purchase and no school will do such things. Furthermore, no one can learn how to make informed decision just from school. To make a good purchase, practice and daily experiences are much more important than knowledge learning in school. Even there are schools which can teach students how to make right decision step by step, without practice, students have no idea whether the products they would like to purchase is high-quality or low-quality. In such circumstances, how students can make the right purchases? Thirdly, there is no evidence show that business uses high-quality advertising to sell low-quality products. On the contrary, high-quality advertising usually means high-quality products. Most famous brands, such as IBM and P&G, their advertisements are high-quality, the same are their products. Commercial ethic is followed very well in these companies. Schools should teach students to strengthen the ethic, not training them to become a doubter. Because if the students believe advertising can cheat customers, once they become advertiser, they will do the same to cheat their customers. It is against schools’ primary purpose. In conclusion, schools’ main duty is to give students academic teaching and to teach students right philosophy. Schools may teach some principles on what is informed decision, what is advertisement and what is right purchase, but students can make informed decision and become smart purchaser only by themselves, not by schools. 以上是写得一篇Issue,写得比较痛苦,觉得有些偏题,而且没有啥例子。欢迎大家拍砖!非常欢迎斑竹点评! |
