贴一个关于教授称谓的？

在不违反提问的智慧和不灌水的情况下，问下查不到的想了解的信息：美国大学的教师有很多称谓：有教席教授，讲席教授，特聘教授，访问教授，讲师，助理教授，终身教授，荣誉教授，金融集团教授等等，哪位学长能系统的总结下呢？也对我们陶瓷的小盆友们有个指导？

i guess your point is not about the titile but which professor is in charge of the admission

my tips (not necessarily the right ones):
1. search for the phd program director and coordinator
1.1 director is always some professor who is really a big shot in the field. therefore, in the first stage, you might want to contact with the coordinator who is usually an ap.
1.2 if the coordinator can not fully answer your question or even recommend you to contact with the director, you can then get the director.
2. the most productive professors in recent years usually have a stronger say
3. get some insider information. if some current students tell you who is in charge. there can be nothing better.

Tenure-track:
University Professor>Endowed\Chair\Distinguished Professor>Full Professor>Associate Professor with tenure>Associate Professor without tenure>Assistant Professor

Non-tenure track:
Visiting (assistant/associate/full) Professor, Adjunct Professor

没错。名校University Professor是非常高的荣誉，非诺奖级别的人不发。Chair就多很多了。

李政道是columbia university professor.当年他29岁，tenure给否了，同一星期得诺奖。哥伦比亚就直接给他university professor把他留下。

他做系主任也不含糊，熬到婆婆了，连续档掉四个不给tenure.这四个后来也都拿了nobel prize

他做系主任也不含糊，熬到婆婆了，连续档掉四个不给tenure.这四个后来也都拿了nobel prize

人家诺奖结果已经发表，但就是不给，嫌那些人太笨。
