求助数学问题。。。

表示OG12上的有些数学题目看不懂怎么办呢……

比如这个P183 213题：in an electric circuit,two resistors with resistance x and y are connected in parallel in this case ,if r is the combined resistance of these two resistors,then the reciprocal of r is equal to the sum of the reciprocals of x and y .what's r in terms of x and y?字面意思明白，大概是说在一个电路中，两个电阻X和Y，平行，如果r是两个中的组合电阻（是并联的意思么？？？），R的相互的=X+Y的相互的？则R用XY表示等于什么。。。可是感觉不通顺啊。。。不明白说的是什么意思。。。好多题都这样。。。求高手解答啊。。。
