So it seems I would rather to join those MNC or MC... :-)

By the time after MBA study, I am eligible to US citizenship, but I would like to go back China... :-) Thanks for sharing... :-)

以下是引用delphine18在2006-3-16 7:39:00的发言:

Dupont seems to have a tradition of hiring one Ross Chinese student for its Marketing Leadership Program every year.  This program will offer J1 visa for staying in US for several years and then managerial positions back in China. Other such programs include Kraft, Eli Lilly, etc.

If you want to stay in US, IB and corporate finance are safer career paths than MC and marketing. However, many multinationals here are interested in hiring Chinese students because they tend to send you back to China after some training as a good communication mediate between China offices and US headquarters. My personal point of view

如果想在美国工作的话,以后还能回来吗?如果不能回来,就没什么意思了?我指的是不想在国内工作。

Just give you guys some general situation here.  The whole US job market is booming, which benefits every school.  Without comparing with other school, we can not say Michigan has better status for summer intern. So please consult more MBA students and alumni, it would be more helpful for you to consider whether you need spend two years to take this program and balance which school is more suitable for you.  Good luck to you!

Good point by jerryz.  As a Ross alum, I am happy to see the terrific placement for class of 06 and 07.  But the economy could turn south any time, triggered by any event.  And if that happens, job placement may not be as rosy as it is today.  I started school in 2001 when we were in the tail end of the go go Internet boom days.  When I applied in 2000, I heard all these stories about multiple job offers after summer and six figure salaries for everyone.  Then, 911 hit us and all of a sudden companies were not coming for interviews, and full time job offers were rescinded (by companies like AT Kearney and Dell!).  So we really struggled through job search during our two years there.  Frankly, I was a bit disappointed when I graduated in 2003 - I did not land my first job in the U.S. until four months after graduation.  Now the economy has turned around and two years after school I landed my dream job.

I share the story so that applicants today can better manage their expectations.  A couple takeaways if I look back at those days:

  1. Your job prospect is closely linked with the overall economic climate.  Anything could happen during the two years so be mentally prepared for the worst scenario.  And no need to blame the school if that happens.  When the economy is bad, placement becomes difficult across the board, including H/S/W

  2. Don't get discouraged if shit happens and you couldn't get the job you want right after school.  Like me, you may be able to get it later.  The skills you build during school and in other jobs will be valued at the end of the day

  3. The school (whichever school) can only help you to a certain extent.  I see school as a ticket to open doors but it rests with the individual to actually get in those doors.  The better school you can go to, the more doors are open, but the school does not guarantee you a great job offer

Hope this helps.  Heck, I was actually jealous when I read these placement info!    Anyway, congratulations to all admits and current students.  Ross is a great school and I hope you all decide to enroll.

Can you tell me Dupont, Dow Chemical and Amegen employ summer intern or full- time?

If they recruit summer intern, these positions are in marketing or corporate finance? In China or US?

Thank you.
