I am chiming in, Songda, although I am not familiar with the discipline discussed here. Yes, there should be no doubt about that based on the fact in my domain of Finance that analytical or game-theoretical work is only undertaken at a handful of top schools, such as Stanford and Columbia. The reason is self-evident: analytical -- and empirical to a large extent -- is generally mathematical and hence rigorous, meaning that it is not for everyone.

如果我没记错的话，place到Maryland的Professor 应该是Kellogg毕业的，game theory总体上来对researcher要求极高，所以他们基本毕业于顶校

UMD新AP是Columbia毕业的，比起OM来，MKT做Theory的市场还是好一些的

貌似他不做game theory? 但是不管什么什么领域商院想做theory 有不错的placement 基本都得是人中龙凤啊

我感觉OM 做theory反而好一些，虽然和mkt一样的是北美只有top校，但是亚洲那几个不错的学校的OR//OM都很偏theory，而这几所的mkt也全是empirical。

香港top3/5的quant mkt有多少做理论的。。。

他们新招的junior和从外边挖的senior都是data相关的，毕竟有teach BA和MBA项目的需求在这里摆着，empirical主流至少未来5-10年不会有变化，除非有哪天业界没有da ds这些职位了也没人读BA和MBA了。。。

你确定吗？就拿今年来说，去hkust的full prof，去cuhk的advanced ap，不都是theorist吗？

香港的学校我之前观察过，hkust有好几个做theory的老师，还有marketing science的编委。其他几所的mkt系似乎没多少做theory的。
