【求问】请教一道prep 08的逻辑题

Lyme disease is caused by a bacterium transmitted to humans by deer ticks. Generally deer ticks pick up the bacterium while in the larval stage from feeding on infected whitefooted mice. However, certain other species on which the larvae feed do not harbor the bacterium. Therefore, if the population of these other species were increased, more of the larvae would be feeding on uninfectedhosts,the number of ticks acquiring the bacterium would likely decline.

Which of the following it would be most useful to ascertain in evaluating the argument?

看了manhattan上ron的解释还是没太懂...
我觉得是因为B的意思我就不太能理解

这句话是说“deer tick的数量是否受限于tick在幼虫时期能不能feed on animals"?
我看了一个小时了...觉得选项的意思就没搞懂
想请教一下大家这个B选项到底是想表达什么

先读原文,不准读太细,考场你读不了那么细
说L这种病和deer tick有关,然后dt感染这个细菌是在幼虫的阶段通过一种mice。但是其他物种的larva阶段不会有这种细菌。所以,如果其他物种的数量增加,这个DT的数量感染细菌的会降低
问下面那个能评价这个结论(这里需要能读出来原文结论的必要前提是:其他物种和DT的相对数量的多少)

B. 是否DT的数量现在是被限制了被那些动物(什么动物)DT的幼虫吃的。留着,和DT的数量多少有点关系

d. Whether deer ticks that were not infected as larvae can become infected as adults by feeding on deer on which infected deer ticks have fed.
是否啊,DT那些幼虫时没有感染的,会变成感染的在成年后通过吃deer(什么deer)那些感染的DT已经吃过的(后面怎么着读不懂都没关系)
反正说的是DT种群内部的两种分类的数量关系,而原文说的是增加其他物种,范围不对,B比D更近点,杀D

加上一点自己的新理解(有没有大神帮俺康康理解的对不对
and刚刚发现herl的总结上的这道题和manhattan上面的有一句话不一样kk但我觉得还是herl这个来好了哈哈

整个题干前面部分是facts不是重点
最后一句是推理的内容
Therefore, if the population of these other species were increased, more of the larvae would be feeding on uninfectedhosts,the number of ticks acquiring the bacterium would likely decline.

将其分解来看
premise:  if the population of these other species were increased
sub-conclusion: more of the larvae would be feeding on uninfectedhosts
main conclusion: the number of ticks acquiring the bacterium would likely decline.

我个人的理解就是sub-conclusion其实也可以归为premise
而premise都是默认正确的 不需要质疑 也不需要自我发散的
所以D选项的关于adults时期的讨论实际上是irrelevant的
因为原本的逻辑链里完全不涉及到adults
关键是increase other species数量之后larva就会feed on uninfected host——最终导致infected ticks减少

adults之后的因素确实会影响infected ticks的数量
但是这并与逻辑链中的因果无关
是overthink
