111 Some people prefer to spend time with one or two close friends. Others choose to spend time with a large number of friends. Compare the advantages of each choice. Which of these two ways of spending time do you prefer? Use specific reasons to support your answer.

We do not have chance to choose our parents, but we can choose our friends. When face the question: do you prefer to spend time with few close friends or with a large number of friends? Different people have different answers. Some people like to spend most of time with one or two friends because they can comfort and encourage with each other when they face frustration. But other people, who hold an opposite view, deem making a large number of friends as more advantages than staying with only few friends. Because making a lot of friends not only can understand people who come from diverse cultures or background but also have different abilities that can help us when we need help. As far as I am concerned, I strongly agree the latter and spend time with many friends.

One compelling argument in favor of my statement is that every one has unique talent that can help us solve the problem which we are not familiar. With their help, we can deal with many troubles which we encountered. As the case of illustration, When I served in the military as an officer, I often face a lot of troubles, such as the breaking of the car, and I cannot repair by myself because first, I don’t know how to repair. Second, I don’t have time to do this. So I want my followers to repair this car. It is very surprising to me that they can fix the car in a short time even though they don’t have high education.

Another compelling argument to support is that we can understand many cultures when we get in touch with many people. By making friends with them, we can know not only their thinking styles but also their inhibits. For example, before writing English essay to my friend who lives in Montreal, I always obey the Chinese thinking style that always express my opinion at the end of the essay. However, my friend tells me that he doesn’t understand my essay because he thinks that my essay is not logic. I don’t know that the Western thinking style which expresses their viewpoint directly is total different from the Eastern.

While just like coins, every thing has two sides. It is true that we would talk what we think in our deep minds with our few close friends. As the proverb says “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” They can encourage our spirits. However, they may not have many times to listen or help us when we need help.

For the reasons mentioned above, spending time with many friends not only can discover their unique abilities that can help us when we need help but also can broaden our minds to acquaint many different cultures. Therefore, it is safely to draw the conclusion that it is better to make a large number of friends.

number of friends. Under my personal circumstances, I like to make one or two close friends because
we can spend more time sharing each other, and also it is easy to get one or two friendly people.

First of all, suppose that you have a lot of friends, and you want to solve some problems with them.
Usually, different people have different thoughts and implementations, therefore sometimes they wasted a lot of
time to discuss. However, if you pick up one of your close friends to consider the same problem.
It should be more quiet and efficient, and you both will get a good interpetation. After exchaged ideas, you
probably will try to combine with both thoughts and generate the best solution. For example, mike,
a first year Unviversity student, has a good friend called Jack. Once, Mike couldn't figure it out his
project. Fortunitely, Jack used to solve the similar problem. So he gave Mike a lot of contructive
suggestions. Mike improved his application. Later on, Mike feels that everything is pretty straightforword.
Finally, he got A for that project. Thus, one friend can really help each other.

Secondly, Making one or two friends is easier than making a lot of friends because different
people have indiviual charateristics. Therefore, it is very hard to make a lot of friends. For instance,
Samel used to have a lot of friends in high school. When he was studying in University, and he found
a lot of classmates were not very nice. They didn't like to share their ideas with other people. Samel
realized he would make a close friend. At his second year, he met a transfer student coming from Canada who is very nice and
a excellent stduent. They made a close friendship. This term, they both got 3 A+ for the course they
registered. They were very excited, and realized two people can make some impossible things which is
not be able to deal with by one person.

It is significant that there are a lot of advantages for making one or two close friends. It can make
thing easier to do, and obtain a good friendship. Thus,I prefer to make one or two close friends.
