Target School

1. big 4 --> MBA, possible, but you have to know many of them want to do so, and business school don't like to take too many people from same background, i.e. very keen competition.

2. be realistic....i am not saying that's impossible, but that's definitely very difficult; you should expect a plan B.
ibank: you better get a econ / finance, instead of management
consultant: put aside every other concern, how's your English? and since you applied to FR and IT, how's your level of French or Italian?

3. HEC is a very good school, but the concern of a MSc is: one year, language and chances for internship are both big issue.

4. ESCP vs Bocconi: Bocconi is definitely a better business school, but one may prefer ESCP due to it's country and location (which is a subjective concern).

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! About the econ/finance thing, I'm actually considering applying to Sciences Po (Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris) or another top public university to gain a solid training on economics or finance rather than choose a business school. But I heard that public universities might be less competitive in job hunting compared to B-schools, what is the fact like in Europe?

science po have a solid network in public sector, and thus have influence in finance through government, but in France. You have to speak French first for sure.

If you cannot speak the local language, and plan to work in finance, London, Frankfurt, Zurich (also Munich and Amsterdam, but not that much) are the only choice. You need to go to a school that's a target in the FO of the FI in those cities.

working experience is always the most important, a related one of course........

a master degree are useful for:
- knocking / opening a door (through alumni network / internship, and the key: the reputation of the school at the place one want to work in)
- learning some skill which is necessary for some roles (like math / law / etc...)

and the european continential don't really value MBA as much as the US counterpart.

consulting always like someone with related experience in certain area: who gonna to listen opinion from someone fresh?

indeed that are quite some top bank in europe, like DB, CS, UBS......the point is, management are not on the top of the recuirtment list.

So is the Big-4 a relatively wiser choice for me ("working experience”)? Also, could you please explain a little why Bocconi is better than ESCP, I'm quite ignorant actually...
