答案是E，我觉得D也对，因为shells含同位素16和18，就是根据对shells进行radioactive分析判断16和18的含量从而决定当年是否属于冰川年。那为什么D错？

为什么要determine？ 选和作者目的相关的。 选最佳~~~
在讲isotope的时候主要讲的是和水相关，所以答案中必定有水·····

D. 1)没有水，排除。2) Determine太绝对，即使知道Isotope 16/18，也没法determine其他的composition。
