想读Phd in finance，大陆小本想求各位师兄师姐指明一条出路

根據一兩年前不記得從哪裡看到的帖, 有人說Tilburg:

1. 極不鼓勵外申, 要推薦信就要找真的很相熟的教授.
2. 列出了Research master ----> PhD該屆的具體人數, 印象中大約有75%.

和其他source相對照, 個人認為離實況相差不遠

現在不要, 到你申PhD in Finance時也要吧.....不是不行, 但印象中選擇少了不 ...

我很赞同这位仁兄的看法。
尽量选择偏Econ和学术的硕士项目，否则和PHD无法衔接起来。
不要单纯因为GRE而放弃一些选择。

其實GRE的準備並不是想像的的費時.

Econ不甚看Verbal, 沒時裸考之即可, 祈禱有個150
Quant也可以半裸考, 那麼淺, 操三兩天past-paper, 有個168+不太難吧.
AWA才是真正要準備的.

AWA也基本上不看的……

AWA甚至都不需要怎么准备。Phd FIN基本都接收GMAT，他已经有了。然后GRE即便AWA只拿了3.5，我想项目也不会因为这个拒他的。

很想去念Tilburg的rm 但是传说很难直接申请（我是国内211本工作了一年）请问具体要什么背景才可以啊 不想就念个msc阿

申RM(or in board sense all academic master)的, 甚麼GRE/GMAT, TOFEL/IELTS都不是最重要的,
英文過線即可, 再多也不會怎加分; GRE/GMAT的verbal在economics沒甚用, quant就人人滿分沒法stand out.

最重要的是......GPA, Strong academic reference和strong coursework (lots of maths)
which are all stuffs that one cannot change after graduation.

so, just apply, and have other easier application with backup......

感谢回答 能再问下 是所有的经济金融类RM都特别偏数理吗（因为自己想走faculty的路 尽量走RM）
对自己的数学不是特别有信心 怕自己没法念下来  
高中学的文科 报的金融  然后大学就被各种数学课炮轰  感觉金融离了数学都没法念了么····有幸到PHD阶段的话 PHD阶段的数学是不是也会变态到直接秒杀我啊·····求明示啊

depends on your research interest quite much though…

all research master in econ and finace are mathematical (else its a atypical one, or more likely a crappy one)

student need be to proficent in the application and knowning the assumption and etc (for empirical)
and be fluent is type of proof (for theory)

你可以這樣看：mathematics is the lanauage for logic and for research. You have to handle it well to speak out your idea.

For your case: I will suggest you to go to a 2 year master in economics, econometrics and finace…not necessaryly a research, but one with solid faculty and program structure. Go to a summer school somewhere to make up your maths before, and take a lot of theory and empirical course during the master. will be possible and good enough for applying and preparing a phd.
