By Sunny 05/24/2014 本人是2013fall NYU的童鞋。2013年8月15号，坐着从欧洲飞的经停一站的22小时候飞机，带着两个行李箱，来到纽约开始一段新的探险旅程。当时在国内找了三个小伙伴一起找房子，默认在Newport找一个三室一厅房子。但是遇到重重困难，短租换了三个地方，耗时半个月才找到房子，但是饱受煎熬，吃不下，睡不着。。。真是痛苦往事不堪回首。所以对于Newport这片每栋building了如指掌，进入正文： Reason to believe: Fact: Con: Newport is located inJersey City. Pro: Tax rate is lower thanNew York. This is a Newport mall and some of the items don't have tax at all. Con: You need to take path(which is the subway system in New Jersey) to Manhattan back and forth. Pro: It has stops at 9thSt 6ave (20 mins to Washington Campus, 30 mins to Midtown Campus)
Fair Price:Ranging from $700- $ 1400. It is not lower than Queens and Brooklyn, as same asRoosevelt Island, but it is absolutely safe!!!! People can hang around at midnightor 1 am or 2 am without concern. Broad Network:Most of my friends are living here. That is the most important reason for me notmoving away from here. Your location determines your social network. (Ibelieve) Friends can be gathered easily to celebrate festivals or just for thepot luck! Rich Moving sales: Since lots of studentschoose to live here, there are tons of moving sales available throughout theyear. You can buy second furniture at a good price and when you are movingaway, you can sell them easily because of the high demand. (search “nyu cssabbs” to check moving sales posts) How is every building?
(http://newportrentalsnj.com/jersey-city-neighborhood) If you want to signa lease with Newport leasing office, in general, you have to pre-pay the 6months rental along with 1.5 months as security deposit. The rental includeswater, gas, not electricity. Gym needs extra fees. Get out from Pathstation, walking from South to North, you will pass by 7,8,2,3,9,6,4,5,10,1,11.
