In the same school as LZ, so know how hard it is to get a good GPA, however 2.85 is still very low. Might help if you explain what is your major...(better if you are in a non-financial major).
And again I don't think GMAT/TOEFL will totally mitigate the GPA; I think adcom rather view them as two different indicators. One indicates how good you are at tackling one specific 'project' (GMAT), one indicates your diligence at study and self control (GPA).
That said, I do think CBS is reachable, but only if you got something other than the 'hard facts'. Otherwise, there will be piles of candidates with same background but higher scores getting ahead of you.
