Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Professional athletes, such football and basketbal players, do not deserve the high salaries that they are paid.

         Sports competitions are one of the mostimportant parts in our lives. The professional athletes are indispensible for interestingand exciting contests which enrich our part time and provide us entertainment. Asis known to us, professional athletes get very high salaries, especially suchas football, basketball and golf player. Recently, there exists a heated debate:whether professional athletes should deserve the high salaries. The debate isdivided into two camps. As far as I am concerned, I argue that the professionalathletes deserve the high salaries. And my reasons and examples are below.

         First and foremost, careers of professionalathletes cannot last long time because they cannot maintain the best physical statewhen they are gradually being old. As is known to us, the high intensity of trainingand competition usually cause devastating damage to their body and health. The competitionsnot only bring them with a plenty of wealth, but also consume their body anddevelopment in the future. There is no doubt that they are incompetent for the toughcontests if they are above 30 years old because they never have the optimal physicalcondition just like the young athletes. Therefore, they deserve the highsalaries and they should get it.

         Furthermore, professional athletes devotethemselves to the career of sports at the cost of time, and staying withfamilies, even their children and parents. We could realize that from variouschannels, such as newspaper, TV programs and so forth. For example, I see apopular video that tell us how the basketball player, Shu-How Lin should workvery hard. He should get up at early 3:00 A.M to do intense exercise which exhaustedhis might. In my perspective, careers of sports maybe the hardest occupation inthe world. So the high salaries of professional athletes are reasonable.

         Admittedly, although professionalathletes suffer heave pressure, they could get many resources and opportunities.As a matter of fact, they usually receive several of invitations ofadvertisements. These advertisements could bring them with so much money. However,we have to admit that they deserved the high salaries and large wealth becauseof the devotion and sacrifice.

         To put it into a nut shell, we can drawa conclusion that professional, such as football, basketball, and golf playerdeserve the high salaries. They reach today’s achievement and reputation at theprice of very hard-working and even damaging their body. At the same time, theyare crucial parts of exciting and intense competitions, for example, the NBA.
