After graduation, I joined big 4 auditing for four years. Meanwhile, i gained a wide exposure in various geographical location, different departments, and teams. I also quit my job to be a sales person in a luxury department store to learn their store operation. It was a fruitful experience and highly relevant to my past experience and future career aspiration. Now, I am working on my own NGO which operates on an innovative fund-raising idea.

I am not a typical candidate, which sets me apart from others. The basic elements required are strong quantitative background and strong oral English fluency. And you need to emphases how innovative you are, how willing you are to push beyond comfort zone and how humble you are to collaborate with others to learn from other Sloanie.

So, if you just copy your application essay from stanford or harvard, it will be a great disadvantage to you.

Thank you everyone! I am not that 牛,...and in case you wonder, i  ...

I also completed my undergraduate in hk and currently work in big 4 of hk with similar background (except the luxury department store part), I am worried that the stuyding expenrience and working expenrience cannot differenciate myself. Moreover, is the applicant pool slightly different if I am working in hk compared to those working in Mainland China? Thanks!

我也不清楚，只是上次duke来作宣传的时候我有问了一下对成绩的评估是怎样，他们说他们知道香港这边的成绩比较难拿，而且比较靠近国外教育，所以会酌情考虑。。。我也不清楚具体考虑什么。。。
其次是我的同学，申请master的时候，成绩不是特别突出的也都有不错的归宿，所以坊间传闻，香港是出国的跳板也许有那么点依据。。。
所以我猜测，如果香港和大陆是两个不同的pool，那可能香港这边有一点点优势，（只是猜测，没准现在被那群战中的这么一闹，都变劣势了(T^T）)

i don't think it makes sense.
GMAT and IBT are fair for everyone who takes it.
besides, both GPA and RANKING were considered.

SO, CN and HK pools belong to Asia pool!

跟楼主差不多的背景，同样的GMAT 成绩，我还在一遍一遍跟GMAT 死磕。看了这篇帖子真的很感动，楼主真的很勇敢，很坚定，points 也都很实在。我想我真的应该放下GMAT 的执念，开始好好准备essay了。感谢楼主的“拨云见日”，希望有朝一日能和楼主走在同一个校园里。
