33系列,一个好的开头。

Time 2  1'50

这句话也令我印象深刻
inspiration is for amateurs, the rest of us just show up and get to work

Speaker:
John Jullens of Booz & Company says multinationals from China and other emerging markets must learn to innovate and manage quality while remaining nimble. For more, read “How Emerging Giants Can Take on the World.”

This listening material mainly talks about how local giant company in emerging market cope with difficulties to ultimately evolve into a successful multinational company. Every emerging market has its unique characteristics. For example, China is a policy-driven country and is on the brink of middle-income trap, whose situation is very different from India. The local giants in China met a lot of obstacles before in the path of globalizing.  Whereas, several successful cases do exist like the multinational exploration of BYD and the Great Wall. John Jullens also mentioned four stages-seizing the moment, building your advantages, finding your weaknesses and consolidating them, forcing yourself to move out-for companies from emerging market to go through these setbacks.  Different companies have different focuses in these four stages. Similar situations happened in other emerging markets.
Speed:
T2-1'56''
the philosophy of leadership has changed from leading by example to leading by conveying "In It Together" concept. To be "In It Together", a leader should create compelling vision in the team, in which mutual understanding is very critical.

T3-2'29''
T4-1'58''
Active direction-setting can support the vision to be implemented. Dynamic coaching can do the right thing at the right time. Collaborative tone is so necessary that it can bond people together. One way to keep collaborative tone is to work with your subordinates. In It Together Imperative should be regarded as a everlasting force to put the company to go forth. Once this ongoing force is formed,  three things are need to do continuously: communication (simple and consistent), exhibited inclusive behavior, making no excuses.

T5-2'18''
The old-fashioned human connection rather than the lack of communication tech causes people short of the ability of instant information exchange.
T6-1'34''
Several tips to break the communication barrier between colleagues:
>create a virtual meeting space.
>take the meeting time to help people know each other.
>delegate assignments to improve the frequency of mutual communication of colleagues.
>Intentionally ask provocative questions.

How to make yourself work when you just don't want to:
Obstacle-10'55''
3 reasons to refuse putting off:
>afraid of screwing things up.
s: adopt a prevention focus.  promotion motivation->willingly take action.
change your way of looking or thinking.
>don't "feel" like doing the things.
s: make like spock and ignore your feelings.->do somethings effectively not means you are eager to do it. There's nothing stopping you.
>the things are hard, boring, or otherwise unpleasant.
s: use if-then planning.
reduce the demands placed on willpower.

结尾的 thinking about the consequences of failure, ignoring your feelings, and engaging in detailed planning 很有用。

Jennifer

Why So Many Emerging Giants Flame Out
Rephrase 1
change in China? half in half out, transition, deliberately slow down, different from india;

struggle, into global companies, ? systematic, in balance, not long-term,

BYD? very successful, 2000 in mordern industry, industry transformed, however overinvest, get in trouble.

1994, Mr Wei, stronger than bigger, doing very well.

other example struggle? 4 stages, complish what you are focusing on.

already global, advice? focus

variation, it's acrossing all emerging markets.

Undermine rapid developing companies? no. navigate, global better on this. reinventing, access to capital, after more competitive with no foundation.
Once get in the business, good foundation.

thank you again, John.

Speed

Leadership: we're in it together
Time 2
successful leaders employ an In It Together Imperative to inspire and guide.
How to make it?
First, articulate a compelling vision for all.

Time 3
Active Direction Setting, the leader should be fully involved.
Dynamic Coaching, Collaborative Tone,
To keep it stick, one should communicate early and often.

Time 4
inclusiveness, colicit and share opinions,
Make No Excused,

Does your remote team really know each other?
Time 5
lack of communication in teams, old-fashioned relationship

Time 6
use the same tool, help new people integrate into the team, get out og the way, intentionally ask provocative questions

Obstacle

How to Make Yourself Work When You Just Don’t Want To
Paraphrase 7
bad, solution - know why you are procrastinating.

afraid you will screw it up, adopt a prevention focus.

if you don't feel like doing something, you just ignore the feeling and do it.

if you are putting off things because it's hard, boring, or otherwise unpleasant, you should try if-then planning.

these three suggestions don't sound as fun as traditional advice, but they work better.

AceJ是不是在准备TOEFL 我最近有打算写一个训练TOEFL speaking&listening的帖子,顺便组织志愿者队伍像现在的模式一样将日常训练带起来。你有兴趣么?
