Tip 1: Express interest
If you have been placed on the waitlist, most times a schoolwill request that you let them know whether or not you are interesting inremaining on the waitlist. If you are because that school is a top choice, make sure you let them knowthis as soon as possible after you receive your decision!

It can also be a good course of action to submit a supplemental essay reiterating whythat program is the best fit for you and you for it, and restating yourinterest.
如果现在是在waitlist上, 首先邮件告诉学校你对学校的感兴趣程度, 同时可以再写一份东西, 告诉学校你的进步。

A word of caution, especially if you are waitlisted in anearly round, it may be a while (and feel like forever) before you hear anyupdates on your application so checking in on your status and reiterating yourinterest occasionally is fine. However, try not to overdo it since theAdmissions office will still be working to get through all their other filestoo and will definitely contact you as soon as there is any news

Tip 2: Updates to your application
Has anything new happened since you first applied? Did you get a new job? Apromotion? Receive an additional semester of grades? Retake the GMAT or GRE?

Anychanges to your application should be shared with the Admissions office.Offices may differ as to how exactly they would like these updates conveyed, but a lot of times it would simply involve supplying the school with an updatedresume, a new copy of your transcript or test score, or an additional essayexplaining these new circumstances.
是否有更新比如说有没有工作上被升职, 有没有在GMAT考试上有提高,总之仔细考虑有没有什么值得提及的进步让招生官可以重新考虑。

Make sure you share these changes in a timely and concisematter- it may just be the final push the Committee needs to grant youadmission!

Tip 3: Strengthen your application
You may be asking yourself why you were placed on thewaitlist and not admitted. Usually, during this very busy time most admissionsoffice will not be able to offer you specific feedback about your application(if they even do so at all). However, a good place to start is to check out themost recent class profile and see how you compare.

If there are certain areas where you may not be quite as qualified as the “profile,”consider ways to change this. Certain things may be beyond your control, likeundergraduate GPA for a program that you have already graduated from, but forother areas that you can improve upon, look for ways to do so. An obvious onewould be to consider retaking the GMAT or GRE and aiming for a higher score. But if you are light in years of work experience, look to secure an internshipor add a volunteer activity to your resume (and as noted above, let theAdmissions Office know of this new endeavor!).

Tip 4: Reserve other options
It is very difficult to predict what will happen in a givenadmissions cycle from one year to the next. Thus, even if you have some dataabout how many students have been accepted off the waitlist in past years, thisdoes not necessarily mean the same will occur this year. Therefore, if yourultimate goal is to begin a program the next start term, it is in your bestinterest to line up some other options.

If  you have not already applied to other programs, consider submitting some additionalapplications. If you have and have received offers, weigh your options and thenit is likely in your best interest to reserve a spot at least one of thoseschools so you have a backup plan. Understand though that if you dodeposit somewhere else and get in to your dream school off the waitlist, youmay lose that money.
注意还是需要有保底学校的因为谁也说不清楚你能不能从waitlist上被录取。
