Sorry to use Eng to tell my story, I'm typing in the office.
I'm now newly graduated from the Uni. as an accountant, got a job for around $3,500 a month. But I don't think it is enough for me to live in San Francisco.
How can I choose, go back to China or stay. I've been through a lot of debate, cannot figiure it out....
I'm sorry I can't help you cuz I'm just a undergraduate students in China, Hopefully others can figure you out.
But I think everyone would have to endure in their early time, to know what's the meaning of life, and finally, to conquer the problems.
Although 40k/year is very low in US, it is comparable to yearly salary of senior mgr. in international co. in China main land, and you can get far lower wage in China as an accountant than in US. So maybe you will feel very frustrated after you come back. But if you can get a managerial position of finance in China, you should seriously consider go back.

Really... Do you think it's possible to jump to other larger companies after 1 year working?
Yes, you can. A lot of people do that. But if it is in SF. At least I think 100k is the reasonable compensation for single, considering high living cost in bay area. 300k is very very reasonable threshold if your family want to live in bay area ( including buy a house).
You can still live in SF with 40K, but you will have to share apartments with 1-2 ppl in bad area. you will have a fair living standard, and cannot save any money. Not to mention buy a house.

I think you hit the point indeed, I can only live here sharing rooms with someone else and only be able to afford a car loan... My worries lie in the VISA issue, I will be an H1b holder the coming year, would it be an obstacle for me to change job?
