112 Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age and should spend most of their time on school studies. Others believe that young children should spend most of their time playing. Compare these two views. Which view do you agree with? Why?
In my point of view, it is more significant for children to begin formal education at a very early age and spend more of their time on school studies instead of playing. Comparing to my friends, I spent less time playing during my childhood due to the supplementary piano lessons and drawing classes everyday. When I recall those diligent days in which I spent on those lessons, I feel full of appreciation.
Generally speaking, the younger the children are, the better understandings of knowledge they consist. For instance, a younger child learning languages will have better manipulation on them compares to that of an elder teenager. Just like Chinese students learning English: during my school years, some of my classmates started learning English at a very early age such as five or six years old, others, however, began receiving English class at eleven years old. Distinctive differences were occurred between them: the previous ones digested English with advanced abilities from vocabulary to sentence structure, whereas others found English extremely difficult to follow. After years of studying, classmates who began learning English at eleven years old were still troubled with pronunciation difficulties.
Another important aspect is that spending too much time on playing is a waste of time for children. In searching for fun, children spend much time on playing because they have not tasted the happiness of studying. Studying particularly doing homework was fascinating to me since the very first time I entered elementary school, I indulged myself into the great accomplishment of working out challenging questions.
On the other hand, some people suppose that childhood is a period in which children require exercise due to their bones and brains’ growing, that is the reason why children need playing. However, in my point of view, children still have sufficient time on playing after study.
According to those various reasons and my personal experience: beginning formal education at a very young age and spending most of time on studying, children will benefit considerably from that. |
