GMAT RC 长难句不懂求解答！

  在做gmat 阅读补充22篇时， 觉得好难啊！
  以下两个句子实在看不懂啊！
  1： In the textbooks of the day  their rosy hues if anything became golden.
   2: To the resplendent values of liberty, equality, and a benevolent Christian morality were now added the middle-class virtues -especially of New England-of hard work, honesty and integrity,the rewards of individual effort, and obidience to parents and legitimate authority.
  完全看不懂。。。求各位大神帮忙解答啊！！ 救命！

是因为句子结构看不懂还是因为意思上不理解呢？如果是因为语法结构不理解可以在语法区发贴我来回答你这个问题，因为阅读区这边好像不允许讨论语法问题

牛牛不好意思这几天太忙没查帖子。。现在回来了！
恩窝觉得窝是句子结构方面不太懂。。不知道哪是哪的这种感觉。。还请解答！～

我试一下哈：
To the resplendent values of liberty, equality, and a benevolent Christian morality were now added the middle-class virtues -especially of New England-of hard work, honesty and integrity,the rewards of individual effort, and obidience to parents and legitimate authority.
现在的政治教育，除了自由，平等和基督仁慈道德的崇高价值观，还增加了中产阶级的美德，例如，努力工作，忠诚和廉政，而这些同样是对个人努力，服从父母和法定职权教育的锦上添花-此现象在新英格兰表现的尤为明显。

句子主体部分是倒装： to X were added Y
“especially of New England”是插入语
“the rewards of individual effort, and obidience to parents and legitimate authority”是同位语

哇楼上好厉害！！看完梳理以后觉得清楚多了！不过还有一个不太懂，你说的“the rewards of..."是作为”hard work, honesty and integrity "的同位语麻？～

严格说应该是the middle-class virtues 的同位语，我认为
